td04HL-15T its a saab turbo. i am looking to put it on my dohc but i am not sure if its the proper application for my car. im not looking to make a certain power range just more then what i have now. can some one direct me please? if you have done this before?
You have alot of searching to do.
you need to come up with some sort of goal first. a power goal, or a desired driveability feature or reliability. what hp do you want to make? where do you want to make it in your power band? do you want it to spool quick and not make too much power, or spool slow and make more power later on in the curve? what is the car being used for? you don’t just pick some random turbo and throw it on your car because it was $50… well you can, but don’t expect to get what you are looking for in the end.
this is the thing, i dont have a power range. i did a motor swap and the turbo was a part of a payment. i was basically going to get a eagle talon smic and use this turbo. blah blah blah. but i dont know what the turbos characture is like. so i dont know what kinda power to expect. i can say ill try for 200hp and i want a low and mid range power increases. but im not looking to prove anything. just something to try out
it needs to bolt to the mani you have or the one your going to get but it not as easy as “bolting it on” you need to see what kinda fuel delivery u need and get according injector if stock is not capable also some kinda ecu changes
Buy my FIC in the FS section. It will control the ECU for the turbo.
im still lost as fuck… im not a basic person who will just buy things for my car. i have built this whole car. im looking for someone that has used this turbo before and has input for me on this setup…
Find out the exact specs on the turbo and than go on zilvia or some other crap and compare it to a Garrett or something else with similar specs that someone has put on a ka.
The engine it came off of has a displacemnt near yours, so thats a start. Call Weirtech. Tell him you have xys turbo and you need a log maniold and dp flange. Build oillines(goto hydraulics store)
Put a oil drain in the oilpan.
Buy a AEM FIC, EMS, or even something ghetto like a fmu/fuelpressure riser or a SAFC-II.

quick google search came up with ppl claiming that turbo good for ~280 bhp also found a compressor map but im not sure of what units the air flow is in…go to turbobygarrett.com and start at turbo 101 to learn more…
i dont know anything about ka-t (im assuming) but you’d be better of selling that turbo and going for a t25/t28 setup…all that stuff is cheap and readily available…like the other guy posted using the mitsu turbo would be a lot of custom work. garrett stuff would be waayyyy easier
