Umm MTO wtf?

I got my G on may 9th. My g2 and the G temp permit expired on the 25th. and to this date i have not received my G license in the mail. Now I gave the MTO some time before i followed up due to the postal strike. So today i tried to insure my new hyundai genesis and according to my insurer im unlicensed. I double checked on the MTO website and it says my license is not vaild…

So now…how the hell did this happen and what can be done to fix it? I have proof i completed the test(ie my temp G permit).

its because ur g2 expired…either wait til the G comes, go to the actual testing place or u have to go to the ministry and get ur g2 renewed.

but shouldnt it show in their system that im now a licensed G driver? After all thats what the temp says…

your license probably expired, even tho you got your g doesnt mean it renews its self, had the same thing acouple years ago.

It does not extend 5 years if you get a new class of license. I got my G in the mail and had to renew it a week later so it expired for sure. Better get on that.

i wonder if it’s because your g2 expired so close to the temp g expiring

call the MTO general infoline and explain your situtation

its because your G2 was about to expire, and then you went for your G-license. You passed your G they gave you a temp permit that expires the same day your G2 does, unless you renew it and pay $60 to get a new picture done…

You were expecting your G-license in the mail but you didn’t know it wasn’t coming… UNLESS you renewed it.

I just renewed mine as well…

confusing as fuck, does not make sense what so ever why they would do this… but thats just the way it is…

^^ actually now that you just said that, it makes perfect sense

to the OP:
the 5yr expiration period doesn’t automatically renew just from getting your G. it’s been 5 years since you got your G2, so that’s why it was up for renewal so close to getting your G, because you waited awhile

it is confusing but the solution is don’t wait until the last minute to do your G :slight_smile:

on the plus side, since you did actually GET your G before the expiration date, I think you can just pay the renewal fee and be on your way

Yeah i duh deeper and that seems to be case. It makes absolutely no sense though considering its a whole new license class. Ah well ill just go in tomorrow. Thanks guys.

i work for drive test, youll have to go in and pay 75 to get it renewed for another 5 years. just like spd-dmn has said, he is exactly right.

you only get 5 years from the date you started your g1 to get your full g, if you dont do it all ion that time then you have to tart back from the g1 again but without waiting those 1 year wait periods inbetween each class

went in this morning and it cost me $60. all worked out… now i wish insurance was much easier…
