Ummmmm....motha fawker..........

Wow. Well that majorly sucks.

Maybe thats why the car had such low mileage. I actually hopped in Cossey’s car and felt that clutch, holy shit… not for me. Felt like a full race application clutch.

omg ryan broke it! sue sue sue sue sue

:lol

feel mine next time ur around.

wait… :shifty

wow man. just wow. good luck getting it back together, i know it’s in the right hands at least.

:rofl

Hey RB …you wouldn’t happen so have a old clutch from your car would you? I want to test the waters in how similar this gearbox is to your supras’ V160…I’ll probably find a shaft for one of those cars that I can test(if splines are the same)

ICONRAD…you too?

found spline counts are infat different between the two boxes…but that info is skewed a bit

I dont have a spare. My clutch is essentially stock with an aftermarket pressure plate.

I know Mr. Conrad replaced his clutch with a tilton, however his was pretty much spent by the end of last year, and I think he used the RPS clutch.

Sounds like your going through a nightmare, let me know if you need me to reach out to anyone.

yeah, tracking down this single input shaft is quite difficult. I’m being told that the sup/skyline 6 speed share alot of similar components right down to gears and syncros. That leads me to believe that there might be a chance the IS is the same and if so I can track one of those boxes easier than going through the skyline sources overseas…

I’m getting a toyota breakdown for the tranny from my buddy up at Newcountry off exit 15 right now. trying to compare things here… If ray has even a center disk that I can test match up to the broken shaft here it’ll assist in finding if the spline will even remotely work(same splines or not)

did you check out any of the Z clutches? I know VG30 engine parts get swapped with RB’s a lot.

Not sure about the R34, but I’m pretty sure the older GTRs use the same clutch spline count as the GTS-T, I have a spare clutch plate to test if needed, but I don’t think that would help you find any similarities between the Skyline and Supras.

The V160(supra MK4 six speed) and R160(skyline GTR six speed) are identical transmissions internally…gears, baulks, nuts, bolts, bearing…EXCEPT for the damn input shaft.

R160 input shaft:

Toss that option out the window.

Eh, new V160 is like $6000+ IF you can get one. :ohnoes

Didn’t know the skyline utilized that tranny. They are bomb proof.

You need just the input shaft?

Damn that thing is defiantly broken :rofl

I looked at the stuff done to the car in the OP and all I can think is:

Yup, looks like all the things a nissan owner would do.

How could this not be expected

Correct, just the shaft(so far) I am going to magnaflux and inspect the other internals but being that this car has sub 17K miles most will likely be alright. $6K is the going rate for an R160 as well from japan(new) plus overseas freight.

I’ve been doing alot of resesrch on these transmissions over the past few hours. I have a theory that IF I could get a V160 supra input shaft, I can do some machine work and make a superior shaft to that of what is in the R160 using the V160 part. My buddy Mike Duise @ Newcountry is looking into it for me as we speak.

I can snap a picture of the R34 internals, they look exactly like that supra V160 internal picture. Same ratios and all.

Damn. Your my hero. If my car breaks im dropping it off. :thumbup
