Your moving a car across the street when suddenly an Amherst cop turns the corner and now you get a ticket for operating a vehicle that’s not registered.
I’m mildly curious what sort of fine this is… I’m assuming it’s worth going to court to get lowered.
For starters, you always plead not guilty…
Everything in Amherst traffic court is expensive.
Not guilty (always) a HUGE leg up is getting the car registered and insured. I had a whole laundry list of shit thrown out just by registering the the car and bringing proof to court.
Plead not guilty.
Get the car registered or disposed of.
Show up to court dressed like an adult.
Explain to the DA the situation including that it was at your address you were moving it and not driving it around town while not blaming the cop or telling him the cop was wrong. Also have documents on hand that show its registered now or you no longer own it for the DA.
DA will drop the ticket.
