Hey guys,
Just wondering where we were standing on becoming a society? Is there anything I can do to help?
Believe me, I have plenty of free time to do stuff here.
Hey guys,

Thats a negatory on the society status. Lol. Iāve had midterms and projects this month, so been hella busy.
Hereās a question, where do I go to register the society? I know what we have to do, but not where to do it. Could you find that out??? :thumb
Ok - Not sure if youāre aware of all the steps required to register a society or not, so you can find the governmentās write up on the process here:
http://www3.gov.ab.ca/gs/information/clctc/incorporating_societies.cfm
Once you follow the process and all the documentation and whatnot, you send the docs here:

Oh, Iād just like to addā¦
For the internet? THANK YOU JEEBUS!!!
Submit the completed forms, together with the NUANS report and the incorporation fee, to the Corporate Registry office. Corporate Registry personnel examine all society incorporation submissions and, if the requirements are met, will issue a Certificate of Incorporation under the Societiesā Act.
Alright, so it will be an incorporated Society under the Societies Act. I read the whole Act, yes, the whole Act, and itās pretty straight forward. Hereās what we need to do:
Go to the registries and search and register the name Nissan Enthusiasts Car Club (hopefully nothing is reserved in Canada, or weāre hooped).
Fill out the application form, the socieites bylaw form, the notice of address form, and then the Societies Annual return next year.
Hit up the registrars office downtown with $50 to form the society and all the above documents filled out and correct, and in a couple of weeks, we should officially become a non-profit incorporated Society.
I think we need 5 people to make this official and to sign all of this. Also, we need an address.
List of people I hope want to sign their life away:
My other interest is where can we make the address? How much is it to get a PO box? Any deals cause weād be a not for profit society?
Iāll start on this over reading week next week.
Thanks for the info Pyrexxx. I also feel like an ass cause Jared gave me this stuff like 3 months ago. lol. Sorry Jared. :axe:
I ave no problem signing my life away just give me a date and location. :yeah:
a PO Box is about $80 a year with taxes!! I do believe!! Somewhere in that neighborhood anyway!! My Momās church has theirs at the 127st and 139ave Kensington Post Office.
Maybe we should have a mini-meet in the near future so a few folks can sign and discuss the matter without 50 people staring at them, wondering why they arenāt drinking.
If you guys want I could prepare the Society by-laws based on the generic document they have listed on the webbie there, or, if we did a mini-meet we could discuss that there and then finalize them after that.
Yeah a meeting between a few of us would be good. An evening during reading week will be best for me. Do I at least get a donut for signing my soul away?
Unfortunately our donut supply has been dwindling rapidly here in hell, so Iāve been forced to make a few substitutions.
Would a large turbocharger and a supermodel seal the deal?
Let me know,
-Satan. :E
yeah, a mini meet sounds good during reading week.
Jamie pmād me and offered to sign away as well.
I"ll bring donuts. lol.
Weāll have to alter the bylaws a touch to meet our needs. Perhaps we can make an evening out of it and bring a laptop to whatever location and make up the bylaws there? Hey Satan, if you want to change what you would see fit and bring it to the meeting that would work; and then we can just change and add what we want then?
As far as address goes, I guess we could use my house address as i donāt plan on going anywhere anytime soon.
How does this all sound?
When do you want to hold the meeting? Iām in anytime during the day. I would prefer the day time, but Iām flexible.
We should talk about this over some beers on the beach in miamiā¦do you guys think you will be able to make itā¦because thatās where I am for the next 2 weeks!! If you meet during the reading week you will have to count me out. I will be busy spreading the word on necc down south. :finga: After Iām back though anytime works for me. Let me know what you guys decide.
:drinkers:
Iām available whenever needed.
As for the articles, I can change them slightly and bring a copy to the meet. I donāt have a laptop, but as soon as I got home I could alter it as need be and send out a .pdf document to all the members for their perusal.
The articles are a living document anyway, and ARE NOT required to form a society, so they can be changed at any time.
How about Monday afternoon? Just picking a random day⦠Mmmmm forbidden donuts.
Hmmmm, Iāll have to see about Monday, I may have to work. Wednesday? Hmmmm
I can bring a laptop. And ya, we donāt āneedā the policies, but would be nice to have them set. Just some guidelines.
Quite right, they arenāt neccessarily needed, but are nice to have.
They tend to avoid litigation, which can be nice.
Oh, I forgot to mention that I did a quick federal search on trademarks and found nothing under āNissan Enthusiastā, so if we came up with a distinctive mark to ID the club, we could register it. This isnāt really the same as a NUANS search, but Iād imagine NECC isnāt taken and can be used without too much trouble.
Wednesday then. 3pm? 4pm? 5pm? 6pm?
Whenās reading week? One of my new yearās resolutions is no more donuts. So more for someone else.
Reading week starts Monday the 21st.
Wednesday at 3pm?
Works for me.
