Looks great. When they did the foam did they put any baffling behind it to circulate air flow? How does the attic circulate air if not? Did u Durabond the ceiling seams, why did you use molding instead of mudding the long ceiling seams?
Expect to pay about 4 times of what normal insulation would cost to have done.
All in, that upstairs bedroom was a little under $10K now I am working on a master bath next to it.
Closed cell foam prevents airflow, so there is no baffling behind it. I used the moulding on the ceiling to make it easier, and to really define the ceiling, making it look a little higher than it actually is (7’)

Whats the difference between the foam and just using R-30? It doesnt seem the roof will be able to breathe with the foam
it looks awesome regardless

I want to close off my garage to the crawl space in my house. It is currently not insulated at all. If I want “some” insulation is the foam overkill and I should just use fibreglass? Versus if I reinsulate my living room would you suggest using the foam?
Did you have to run all your wires before they put in the foam?
Nice work
For walls? Just use r19 fiberglass insulation, we use pink panther. you cant feel any draft whatsoever and it keeps the house warm, plus muffles the sound a lot
I ran all the wires first, yes.
Foam is expensive, but the lack of airflow out of the room is how it stays warm. Before the remodel, that room was at least 15 degrees colder than the rest of the house. Now after the foam (and new windows) I can seriously heat the upstairs with the recessed lights and the heat from the TV. It is usually the warmest room in my house by far.
For the garage thing you are talking about do a normal wall with insulation. Foam is way too expensive if you don’t need to use it.

I just put almost 2 pallets of R-30 in the attic, and I’ve already noticed a difference. And not itchy at all.
Is that “Great Stuff” in the window case? I hope it is the stuff made for windows otherwise it may void the warranty. Great Stuff expands more than the manufacturer wants, so they only allow you to use the window type caulk.
looks good man
eh i use that foam in a can stuff a lot, sometimes u cant fit the caulk gun in there, but thats not the case here. it provides a lot more draft resistance tho. otherwise you can always just stuff some fiberglass insulation in there as well
looks great. the color combo is realy nice. When i first opened the pictres and saw blue on the walls i think i actually died a little.lol
I was just curious about the ventilation of the attic(not blowing up your spot), how does it ventilate? What kind of roof do you have, is it asphalt shingles? They can over heat without proper ventilation. Also excessive moisture can build up without the proper ventilation.
Guess it’s not all done… I thought everything was done long ago other than the bath? at least thats what it looked like to me.
I am by no means new to window installation, or the building world in general. Last thing I would want to do is ruin windows that cost almost a grand each, but thanks.
Let’s just say, if it didn’t work the way it should, they would be out of business by now. I’ve actually had it done for 2 years already and have zero issues with it. The only thing I still want to do is insulate the walls in the lower part of my house, but I don’t want to take down all the plaster there too. Foam is considered the premium way to insulate.
Phase 2 is about 60% done.

Nice work
i was just about to ask why you didnt expand the bedroom all the way back and then i scrolled down to see the master bath. tho that looks pretty badass man. i would imagine your bathroom will be pretty pimp too? standup shower or bathtub? what kind of sink/vanity are you going to go with?
4’ x4’ wide shower, 6’ garden whirlpool tub 60" vanity, dual sink, with a tall linnen closet next to it.

Looks amazing Xander! I like these threads a lot.
Nice Job looks awesome. The foam is coolio
I wonder what it would cost to remove the insulation from my attic and foam it
So, I take it you didn’t use Great Stuff. Good Job
In stead of a 60" vanity… put in a 60" plasma with a camera. Gots to have a TV in the bathroom.
I will actually have room above the tub…
