Upstairs bedroom DIY

Are the walls made of old wooden shoes?

j/k looks awesome, good work homeboy!

I am the master of Due it ur self!!! OMFG BuffaHO Sucks ugly bitchs!!!

makes me want to rip down all my walls upstairs and start fresh. i hate the curved seemless look. I could use some decent insulation too.

looks 100x better, nice work

Makes me hate my attic a little more…

I have a huge attic, but the upstairs furnace is installed up there, with a spiderweb of ductwork coming into the ceiling to heat the apartment below…

Talk about a waste of good space…

i love the smell of a brand new remodel, or house

or fresh cut tile on a water tile saw in the summer, maybe im just fuckin wierd

IMO Anyone even questioning (srsly) it should look into it. The CCFoam is frigging amazing. Blows “R” value of batting out of the water. Ask any gen cntrctr and they’ll tell you that FG batting is the cheapest route because it is generally the least efficient route. Don’t get me wrong, it works. But so do carburators…

Oh, and nice work X

Anyone have a hook up in the foam insulation field?

And Nick Carbs rule!!!

idk we built a custom 3million dollar home and we used fg insulation :gotme:

No shit. My house was rebuilt with FG too, didn’t have the coin for 1800 lf of foam.

3.5" of foam has an R value of 20-25 brand dependent.
3.5" FG is R13…

and it becomes pretty exponential in thicker installs.

Think critically about that for a moment.

Consider also that FG has ALOT of loose air space. Think about it, how thin can you compress FG batt by hand?

Now CLOSED CELL foam also has airspace, but much less. It is also “trapped” and will not allow any real MOVEMENT of air through the same space, especially in comparison to CC foam.

Now if you ever actually get to play with a sample of the foam, you’d be in love too. I could go on about the science behind it, but this isn’t the place for that and I’m pretty sure that you have access to Google.

Sorry X…

I laugh when I see big $$$$ homes being built the old fashion way. What a waste.
I guess if you can’t “show it off” it aint worth the investment to some people.
Structural Insulated Panels FTMFW!

X: Nice btw.

nice job man looks tits! Now I know where my next poop will be taking place lol j/k

looks awesome, but on a side note i noticed some wanting to do the foam insulation but you dont have to rip plaster off your walls, my neighbor had it done to the outside walls of his house and since he had vinyl siding, they just pull out a piece of siding, drill a hole and fill it with the foam then plug the hole with a wood plug and put the piece of siding back.

That wasn’t really an option being under the roof for the entire attic. Also moved a lot of the walls around, and “while i was at it” (famous last words) I decided to demo the whole thing. :eekdance:

X…

Wow that looks awesome…At first I thought the first picture was the finished product. I was like why would you paint the ceiling and walls the same color. Came out awesome though.

That upstairs looks great. I like the color against the white trim. I also like the trim running across the ceiling and the sharp joints instead of the old smoothed corners. Pretty inspiring

home build project…Xander for the win… so sick buddy

Most window manufactures warranties will be voided with most types of caulk as well. Great Stuff in the blue can can be used in any window/door application. That or the Dap foam. But the Dap foam is water based and will dissolve if it gets damp before cured. There is no problem using the correct Great Stuff for any window.

Add one more person to the “I actually know what I am talking about” list.
