Never quite understood the credit check. Never really thought about it either. Whats the reasoning behind this?
Might have something to do with responsibility
For one, such testing would violate the right to privacy. There would also probably be arguments for the 1st, 4th and 5th amendment rights too. IDK, the ACLU would be all over this.
remember when Griffin tried to make the welfare people shovel sidewalks and shit?
turns out it was illegal because it wasnt part of NYS’s welfare law, which apparentl cant be changed due to federal laws
it would have been legal only if the state had included the idea in the ORIGINAL welfare laws
id bet the same goes for drug testing
oh, and in response to this:
I’d rather see the gov’t spend less money putting pot-heads in jail and more money on teaching kids.
i say: Well if we kick lazy fucks off welfare for doing drugs, and do a good job of it, we will spend waaay less on welfare, and therefore have money for stuff like improving schools
bingo!!
As much as I’m against drugs, the government shouldn’t be able to say you can’t smoke that, or snort that.
I do feel that there should be a limit on welfare, as in you get 2 years of welfare total your entire life. Unless there is a documented chronic disability.
40 years on welfare is ridiculous.
Testing at chains are because of theft reasons. This is Jerry’s smart wife.
so you dont mind people taking your money to do drugs ? how is that much different then them breaking into your house, stealing your tv, and trading it for drugs ?
welfare is a great CONCEPT. lets help people who are down on luck get back on their feet. in reality alot of them ride the system.
if you can afford drugs, you can afford to support yourself
if you can buy a new charger, you can support yourself
I work for Social Services and If you apply for Cash you are drug tested and if you pass you get your cash, if we suspect you are using we test again. If you fail you go to rehab and yes we pay for that “big money”. That state says that public assistance is temporary and we need to make people better so that they can get back to work. There are ALOT of things I don’t agree with! I don’t think you should be able to buy Redbull with your benefit card but they do. If you don’t apply for cash you are not tested. You can get foodstamps and Medicaid!!! Jerry’s smart wife.
I agree 100 %!!
nd before anyone jumps on me about drugs.
i have no problem if you take the money you earned at your JOB ( <-- key part of this, the fact that your actualy earning your money) and smoke it, huff it, snort it, inject it, or swallow it.
your money from your gainfull enployment + your body + a quite rom in your house = i dont give a fuck.
but please, if your gonna die from your addiction, do so quickly so my tax money doesnt have to pay for your extended medical care either, because that takes money out of my pocket too.
If they are eligible to receive the money… they should be able to do what they want with it.
The problem is with who is eligible IMO. That should be much more strict
:word:
thats the stupidest thing ive heard in this thread. If the employee next to me is doing all sorts a drugs i then need to.
A. pick up his slack because hes only there for drugs
b. watch my back because this hung over drugy is about to drop heavy machinery on my head.
c. Not associate myself with this drugy because when he goes down and he will, i do not want to be included or looked upon the same.
i could go on and on about drug abusers and why they are no better then the people on welfare. Both are traking up space and going nowhere in life.
hence why i said a quite room in your own house, not something like:
your money from your gainful employment + your body + the controls to the 7 ton bridge crane in the shop with a 4 ton load hanging from it= i dont give a fuck
i have no intentions of ever picking up the slack from a drugged out coworker, cause sometimes your just picking up their slack, and sometimes your fixing their mistakes, turning an hours worth of work for one person into a 4 hours worth of work total
normal mistakes are one thing … but screwing up something or someONE because you decided you couldnt wait till quiting time to get high is something else.
in my case we work 7-4, thats 9 hours, leaving you 15 hours to get high and sober back up, if 15 hours isnt enough to get high and come back down to normal again, your doing to many drugs, and if you come in still fucked up on MONDAY (63 hours of fre time), you really got a problem
I like Jerry’s smart wife. She actually brings knowledge when she posts. So basically you’re saying there IS testing already?
lol :word:
I never thought of it like that, but I agree 100%.
testing to make you eligible at all will help with that.
