Using an old oil tank as a BBQ smoker [smoker build thread]

Hell half my family is dairy farmers. Ever hear of the Emerlings? They were farmers looooong before they were car dealers. I could probably get one cheap.

Hmm…

MAKE BAR-B-Q

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I’m going to go with smoker.

if you dont do this im gonna be so upset.

Hmm, I’ll have to get a 55 gallon drum for a wood box. If only I worked at an industrial gas company that orders zeolite in 55 gallon drums so clean you could eat off of them as soon as you’re done dumping the sieve out…

Hey Joe are there any laying around R&D?

Fuck yeah, now you’re talking. I might just buy you a pint.

I like this new attitude.

My dad runs a chemical company…let me know if you are serious lol.

We’ll see. First let me figure out if it can even get out of the basement without being cut up. I guess it wasn’t uncommon for these things to be dropped into the basement before the house was built.

There are probably a bunch of barrels out back if I need one, but just out of curiosity what chemical company does your Dad run? Does he pay well? :lolno:

I have not seen any empties near my buildings.
If I run into any adsorption guys, i’ll ask.

As for getting it out… The inlaws place on Decature has it under the house.
No basements and there is no way to get it out w/o cutting it up.

Noco offered to have someone come look and give me a price on pumping it out. Eff that. There’s only a couple of gallons left. I’ll get a hose and a few empty jugs and leave Autozone a morning surprise.

If you promise to make a smoker, I will help in any way I can… even if that means drinking beer and watching other people work.

Thompkins Metal Finishing…Probably not anywhere near what you are making.

+1 :fuzzyfish:

Fry does not make anything… he separates it.

lol so he only pays $4/hour, not $5? :stuck_out_tongue:

We’ll see. It will depend on how much of a difficult oily bitch it is to get the thing out.

If it looks good I will provide a smoker and the wood if someone else will front the cash for the meat and a drunken meat fest will ensue.

I can def get down on that deal. Federal meats is a 2 min ride away.

lol

File with the town for a block party/open container waiver…
Invite the neighbors and friends then party…

I’m sure at least some people on your street would let you smoke their meat.

This has so much potential

You will need to smoke some tofurky for Newman though

61 x 27 x 45, so it’s actually a 300 gallon tank. So we can smoke a whole damn cow.

There’s approximately 10 gallons of oil in there. That’s going to be fun to drain. Anybody got empty jugs I can have? The drain is right on the bottom, which is nice, but I’m going to have to jack the tank up into the air to drain it since shit doesn’t generally roll uphill.

Yay.

Oh, anybody got an old trailer frame too?
