I’m running my Cummins on waste engine oil blended with diesel. Power and mileage both increased, and it’s free. Every few tanks I just run straight #2 with a good dose of naphtha to un-coke it. No problems so far, but then again I have a 12 valve and it’ll swallow just about anything.
I thought about a 50/50 mix but I can’t truck motor oil… too many things can be in there.
^Engine Oil for real? Or did he mean to say Veg?
No, engine oil.
I meant to say trust, not truck.
Basically a diesel motor will run on any other fluid in your vehicle. Tranny fluid included.
I used to dump pre-mix two stroke oil in my tank on my cummins.
helps lub stuff
LOL thats crazy, my TDI motor is not as forgiving as the big truck motors!
Yeah, you have to be careful. I only run waste oil I collect myself (from work mostly) so I know where it comes from and know it doesn’t have any coolant in it or other crap.
Little update for you guys:
Over 20,000 miles, countless gallons of oil, a case of $7 filters, and only about $600 on diesel fuel since August, last year.
Rough math will tell you that I drove, for free, for the last year. The $6000 initial investment (kit, oil, install, pumps) paid for itself in 10 months…
In the winter, I’m on oil in 2ish miles… truck runs great. In the summer, I’m on oil almost instantly… especially with short stops.
Initially I was paying $2/gal for oil when diesel was over $5.00. On July 4th paid $1.50 for 500 gallons when diesel was over $3.00.
I just found another 1000 gallons… at $0.50 per gallon. lol.
Oil manifold is a little dirtier, but still works perfectly-

I’m always looking for new sources for oil.
talk about the fucking shit right there.
how many gallons does a typical mom and pop restaurant use that you can take when they are done with? i guess the real question is: how hard is it to find the oil?
I have an Arby’s that I just started collecting from, 40gal per week. So, after I clean it up, I should lose a little bit in the process, I’ll have enough to get by on with just that one source and the stockpile that I already have.
Thanks! Finding oil has never been hard really.
Last time I checked with Darling, it was at a neutral price. I normally take around 60 gallons out of the restaurant I work at every week
How much of a bitch is it filtering your oil and keeping a supply yada…
I think this would be my biggest issue
You can buy it already filtered (which I’ve done) for less than 1/2 the cost of diesel.
Depending on how much you use, and where you’re going to store it… I’ve had 1000 gallons at my house at one time or another. But I also have a decent sized barn. The guy I bought my last big load from had over 40,000 gallons. I know it was over 40k because he filled 2 tankers with oil to spare.
