Go talk to the NFL network, they’re owned by a competitor of the cable companies, and that’s why you don’t have it. If it’s that big of a deal to you, then switch. That’s the beauty of a free market. Just quit bashing a company who does a lot of things better than anyone else. I don’t see the value in having a dish, but I didn’t go and start a thread about it did I?
I have dish network. Where NFL Network HD comes with even the basic package. I wouldn’t pay 1/10 of what time warner charges.
If I can’t watch Spongebob, I have nothing else to live for.
Just price checked Verizon internet and tv bundle, with everything I have now with Time Warner. Two tvs hooked up with HD boxes. I have DVR on both right now, but I couldn’t find it on the Verizon website. HBO and Cinemax, and their 10/2 internet service, which is comparable to my 10/1 that I have with TW. Total came to $139.95 before taxes, and anyone who has Verizon for anything knows the taxes and fees that they rack up, usually around 15 bucks for this service. Add to that the cost of the two DVRs, and I’m up over $160. Or I can stick with Time Warner for $103 a month.
QFT
Which is good, since with TW you can pretty much count on needing to talk to customer service at least once a month.
Like Nikuk, I left TW because of absolute garbage service and equipment. I’ve had Dish Network almost 3 years now and had to call customer service once, and it was to change my programming package. Yeah, it sucked talking to India, but I’d much rather deal with that once every 3 years than talk to someone in the US about by locked up DVR every few weeks.
i didnt read this thread but i watched that commercial in the ad.
if i were TWC and if they are not bullshitting about the rise in price then i would release the details of the arrangement and the math about how much the price increase will be and switch the blame over to Viacom.
irrespective of what the break down in negotiations were, releasing that commercial on Viacom’s behalf is a major breach of confidence.
That’s funny, I’ve never had a problem. I know people who have, but they’ve been resolved quickly and with no hassle.
Just checked up on DTV’s website. With first year discounts of $23 a month, my bill would be $50 bucks a month before taxes for just TV. After tax figure $60-65. That’s not that bad, but wait, they’re charging me a $200 installation fee? And I don’t get free on demand or the plethora of other features that TW gives me for free. And I still have to get internet service, which will cost me at least another $50 from Verizon. And after a year my bill will go up by $23 a month if not more. And if I have trouble and something needs to be replaced, I’ve got to pay for it. And I don’t get to watch hockey night in canada anymore. F*** this.
Usually agreements like this are also confidential, so they probably legally can’t tell anyone what price increases, if any took place.
you need to get bundled pricing, it is significantly cheaper…
That was bundled pricing, on their website it bundled the two together for me.
24/7 Adult on demand does fuck the boxes up. (according to google)
On a serious note, the beauty of TW is if the box dies they roll a truck to your house and swap for $0. No questions asked. Also most customers do not call in as often as you did, or ever needed to besides to upgrade or downgrade.
So Wookie, I take it you work for TWC? The only TWC humpers I’ve ever seen were employees. The other was Evane, and now that he quit TW he’s here in this thread humping Dish Network.
Nope, I’ve just used all three services and the best one so far has been TW. I’ve had Fios internet and TV, the service was great but the customer service sucked balls, and there were literally over 20 bucks in taxes. And it was expensive. Dish and Directv likewise have good quality service, but every time it rained the tv didn’t work and they were impossible to get anything done with unless you were buying something. And they charged for everything. Time Warner I’ve never had a problem with, the price is reasonable, and I don’t have to worry about how much they’re going to screw me if something goes wrong. Remember when channel 4 went off the air? I got myself an antenna for free, hooked it up, and enjoyed the bills games until it came back on. They go the extra mile to make sure that I have the most pleasant experience possible, which dish and Verizon don’t do. And their HD is just as good as anything else (maybe slightly inferior to Verizon Fios).
SO I’ll save myself the money and stress and stick with TW.
Mine for the next 12 months is $80 for Extreme HD tv service, 20/5 internet, $15 for HBO, $15 for one dvr, $7 for a regular HD STB.
So thats, 80+15+15+7 which is $117 + taxes/fees.
My time warner bill for digital cable and road runner was $140, that only gave me 5mb down and way less HD channels and a really shitty DVR. So FIOS for me works out to be a few dollars a month cheaper but way better channel lineup and WAY faster internet. Being a newsgroup and torrent whore, the 20/5 internet is pretty important for me.
I put two HD boxes on and a couple of premiums. You may have found something that I didn’t though, because those prices don’t add up with the ones I found.
thats for a HD DVR home media receiver and a regular HD STB. But yea, if you want two premiums it is like 25 instead of 15. Also verizons marketing is so friggin screwed up that i had to call 3 times before i got that specific package. it started out at $150/mo for the same tv stuff and the 10/2 internet instead of $117 with the 20/5 internet
But thats verizon for you, too big for their own good they have no clue wtf their own packages are most of the time
Part of why I don’t like them, you can’t get ahold of anyone and when you do everyone tells you something different. When I had to call and cancel service for my grandmother, (after it should have been cancelled already) it took 45 minutes to talk to someone, and then when I finally did they said that we had set up our install for the next day. Very aggravating.
Yea they totally blow in that respect, however I am completely used to it since I am responsible for managing all of the voice and data communications contracts for our company. So I am regularly getting jerked around by verizon, at&t, one communications, paetec, etc.
So to me the home stuff is super simple
These threads have become about as useful as any thread mentioning the following: GTR; ZR1; Skyline; Nudes; Antidisestablishmentarianism
The original topic has come & gone, deal has been made. Haters & Humpers will live on forever. Now all of you go and watch your tv’s.
