Viacom to take 19 channels from TWC

Cool

I called that shit on page 3 while everybody was being retarded.

watch the bill go up again like it did over channel 4. except channel 4 was fucking useless completely.

i still might switch to dish. they are cheaper, have better channels, and i can have a dvr that i can rely on, tw’s was a joke and never lasted the whole show.

I hear the thing about no Sabres in HD on Dish everyday. It’ll happen, we just don’t know when. It’ll just be on one day. That’s how Dish usually does it. No announcements or anything.

Why aren’t you guys sharing a satellite service yet?

Can’t wait till one of these companies pulls this shit with Verizon or Directv. The amount of hate for a cable company that is trying to keep cost down for the customer is incredible.

The dish providers manage to keep the cost down for the customer AND get all the channels.

For now.

I didn’t leave TW because of cost. I left it because of pathetic service uptime, horrible HORRIBLE settop boxes, piss poor cust svc resolution times, and a shit channel selection for the price.

I’ve since found that both Dish & Fios TV are FAR and away better alternatives and absolutely refuse to give TWC a penny so long as either of these two are available to me. fwiw.

I just bought a new TV and was looking into getting digital cable from TWC because that is the only option here in my apartment complex. I looked into FIOS and it isnt available here…

With 19 channels gone they can fuck themselves… $65 a month is too much for the Discovery Channel and Travel… I can get all the other channels with bunny ears and DL the rest of the shows I want to watch.

They reached a deal. Chill.

Yeah, and so does TW. They’ve only lost channel 4, and when they did they did everything possible to make sure that their customers could still get it.

And their customer service > all. Verizon sucks, Directv sucks and all their techs are contractors, and you’re lucky to get someone to your house within a week of having trouble. And then they want you to pay for it. It also took me an hour to get to a person when I called Verizon the other day, but every time I call TW someone picks up the phone and I’m on the phone for less than 5 minutes. And if something breaks or doesn’t work, there’s someone out to my house within 24 hours to fix it, for free. That is if they can’t fix it from the call center, which they usually can. And for internet and TV with two HD DVR boxes, Showtime, HBO, a couple of tiers, and about 45 HD channels the bill is ~100 bucks.

So stfu.

I don’t know if this was directed at Dish, but I’m sure its only a matter of time before Dish buys out DTV. They already bought XM.

It’ll be going back to their roots. They originally started as one company.

You can share all of the satellite services.

Basically you pay someone… anyone in the eastern part of the country… to “chip in” for their channels, and then you give them the number on your box. You aim your satellite to space.

You get all of the channels someone a thousand miles away gets. Don’t plug in your phone line.

Time Warner does have newer in house designed DVR Software called “TW Navigator” it is far from feature complete but a big step in the right direction for them away from SA’s provided SARA interface. It should start rolling out to subs in Buffalo area sometime 2009. Start-over is feature subset of that full package TW has there own custom app server to run it on top of SARA.

The Scientific Atlanta DVR’s are quite great for hardware standpoint but there software is ass.

Oh really? So can I come over and watch NFL network? 3 years later after they dropped it?

I missed this before…

I pay $110 after taxes and without any deals for:
road runner
hi-def dvr
all the normal hi def channels
HBO

I would probably leave if I could get a similar package minus internet for $70 after taxes. I’ve played with all the configurations and have not been able to do this.

i have SD digital, one package up in the digital to get military/speed/G4 and internet from time warner and it’s $108 w/tax a month… sucks.
