Video Games take lives

Are you guys hearing all this stuff about the guy who was street racing and got into an accident and was killed? They find a copy of NFS on the seat and instantly they lay the blame on the racing game. I think its a load of shit, they don’t want to look into anything it seams so they see a video game and blame it as quickly as possible. They say he was “traveling at speeds of up to 140km/h”. I too dirve fast and when not “street racing” I can hit 140-160 on the highway or close to that even on the yellowhead and whitemud. (mind you I do drive like an asshole) Dop I drive this way because I play video games? No. I drive this way because I just do. I dunno maybe I’m looking at this the wrong way but I still think its stupid.

The “blame video games” is so beaten down to death, besides, those games can not be held liable because of course they always mention keep the racing off the streetse which can easily be turned into a legal disclaimer which in some ways it is. I think it’s a little more fun to do things you can’t do in video games as opposed to try them in real life, how else would I be able to go 340 km/h on the Wangan highway in my Silvia and not die or get arrested or pay for new parts that I smash up?

NFS underground makes me drive to fast and ‘street race’…

 yah right, the media/people are just lookin for excuses to blame dumb ass drivers (like me and im sure lots ofppl on the board) for driving like jackass’. but i just enjoy it!

If you can’t control your vehicle at higher speeds or perform manuevers not normal in traffic, then don’t do it, simple as that. If you’re gonna’ do something dumb with your car then do it somewhere your not going to hurt others.

I read that in the newspaper this morning and I though, “Right, people never speed and race unless they got the idea from a video game.” !@#$tards

B-Wurm

I laughed when i saw that in the newspaper, cause everyone knows street racing games were around in the late 60’s screw that, the 30’s when hotrodding was born.

Actually, this stuff happened to rock music and movies as well. There is a tendency in our culture to blame new technologies/media formats for destroying lives and influencing people. If you watch carefully, the start of blaming the internet for things has already subtley begun.

Let’s face it though, if it’s a school shooting or street racing, ultimately the game itself does not pull the trigger or put your foot to the floor - it’s a concious choice.

What are you talking about. Whenever I play NFS I go out and engage in street racing as soon as possible with no regard for others. The game makes me do it.

On a side note, I don’t own NFS.

he just rents it then goes out on “Carmegeddon” rampages… haha man… talk about knowin’ your roots :stuck_out_tongue:
