Vintage Bike smokin' deals dump

1977 Triumph Bonnevill 750 - $4000

http://erie.craigslist.org/mcd/3749135827.html

This may seem expensive for a bike of this age, but it’s a really beautiful example of a proper restoration with a couple modern touches with warning lights and such…really nice bike (paging Coldaccord’s dad)

1981 Suzuki 650 - $850

http://erie.craigslist.org/mcy/3741219404.html

the ad is pretty poor at describing the bike, but price is right enough to warrant asking for further info

1981 Suzuki GS450L - $1000

http://erie.craigslist.org/mcy/3733603545.html

looks to be decent shape

1980 Honda CX500 - $1500
http://erie.craigslist.org/mcy/3733501045.html

truth be told I have a wierd soft spot/boner for these bikes…they’re so quirky and silly looking stock, but they cafe out SO well. water cooler, shaft drive…really reliable and smooth bikes. That huge fairing will be sellable to get your investment price down too…

Honda CB400 - $250

http://erie.craigslist.org/mcy/3723383474.html

doesnt say year, says mostly disaseembled…but has title…this could be a smokin deal if the motor isn’t locked up and has compression…

1971 Honda CL450 (scrambler) - $450

http://buffalo.craigslist.org/mcy/3756703639.html

discription makes the bike sound pretty beaten…but I’m also confused because he says it’s DOHC, which was not a technology developed in motorcycles until 1978-1979ish…so either he’s wrong on the year, or it’s not DOHC, or it has a later motor swapped in, or its a unicorn.

Honda CX500 - $600

http://buffalo.craigslist.org/mcy/3756472392.html

SOMEONE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD BUY THIS BIKE AND CAFE IT. this is such a seriously good price I’m mad I can’t afford/justify buying it MYSELF.

1973 Yamaha XS650 - $650

http://buffalo.craigslist.org/mcy/3760962805.html

needs assembled…but says it’s all there WITH title…decent deal if it’s not a pile of shit parts.

1975 Honda CB550 - no price

http://buffalo.craigslist.org/mcy/3762372946.html

has title and looks almost complete. This particular guy usually lists total heaps of non-titled garbage, but this appears different. worth a call to get a price…

1980 Honca CB650 - $950

http://buffalo.craigslist.org/mcy/3762207833.html

the CB650 is an EXCELLENT all-around bike.

1978 Kawasaki KZ650 - $350

http://buffalo.craigslist.org/mcy/3762109626.html

This is a friggen wicked deal if it has a title…

That 450 scrambler could be worth it just for the side pipes. Calling!

sounds like something I would say to rationalize buying another bike hahahaha

Fucker. It’s got an old ‘rusty’ 2-1. If it isn’t too too bad a 2-1 could be nice. I am going to check it out tomorrow on lunch and i’ll prbably bring a compression tester to test the engine as well.

what is wrong with you

I see no issue. LOL.

.

Hell, a strong compression motor as a backup is never a BAD thing…

1981 Honda CM400 - $600

http://rochester.craigslist.org/mcy/3764682679.html

looks like a great bike to use for a project, in great shape!

I dont no much about bikes but i just stumbled across this which looks clean
http://syracuse.craigslist.org/mcy/3758832631.html

FUCK. That’s an INSANE deal…last year of the single-overhead-cam engines, last year of the 750 supersport…that would make a GREAT project

and that 910cc kit is probably some ultra-rare Henry Abe or Yoshi kit worth a ton of money

if someone wants it i live in cuse and my sister lives in buffalo

if someone buys it, I’ll offer to get it running for free in trade for being allowed to do the ton on it…I want it, but have WAY too many right now…

I may go checkk it out and see what kind of shape it is in, just emailed the guy

if you dont mind sending me a pm for stuff to double check if i go check it out thatd be great, bikes are new to me

honestly, that bike is WORTH what he’s asking regardless if anything is wrong with it.

Things to check:
-does the kickstart move (meaning the motor is not seized)
-can you push the bike around just as easily AFTER using the brakes as you could BEFORE you used the brakes (are they sticking)
-is there gunk in the gas tank/does it reak like paint stripper
-are the tires dryrotted
-does the gear lever move through the gears (1 down, then 4 up…neutral between 1 and 2)

beyond that, if you have a compression tester that’s the only thing you can further check…but even with two dead cylinders that motor will run with a basic tune-up and carb cleaning.

Looks clean, I like it.

seems fairly standard, I will check this out if the guy ever gets back to me

thanks for the quick tips
