Dan quit being on dope and post better pics. Then explain wtf people are looking at! haha

No way to really post much better pics atm…

Just added info to pics.

I want to see pics of the vehicle. All of it, plz

 keep up the good work Dan.

This.

Customer car? I just saw a red SRT-10 roadster flying down the 90 chasing a gray S2K, so hot

Looks like rad shit, but come on… There has to be a slicker way to mount a 2000 dollar display than by bolting it to the steering column in front of the old gauges.

good point mine as well sell the OEM clusters gauges for $450.00 thats what they go for on ebay …

I doubt getting $450 for the stock cluster is any motivation

Nice stuff

21s on a viper nice!!!

Is the lip on that rim just a CF overlay over alum?

Eh, not really. The original gauges NEED to be functional and still in place on the databus. Sure, you could hack the dash and push the digital dash recessed in [that would basically be the ONLY other option on this interior] but that would absolutely destroy the dash, and would render ALL of the functions of the dashboard inoperable, since the main cluster is the hub for the PCI bus in the dash. There are also body related item attached to that cluster, which would also be inoperable.

I also think you are overestimating the amount of room around that display, I can barely get my fingers in to twist that Autosport connector on, it is backed right up against the dash. [I had to drop the column for that pic] It actually looks great in person, and is in PERFECT placement to just catch the ODO, Fuel, and MIL cluster off to the sides from driver position.

better pics are needed… full car shots?

Controller parts are mine, wheels are customer. Customers car does not have controller mounted yet, it will run an SQ6 and Pi Omega.

It just seems to me that on such a high profile build that you could relocate the cluster, or at least make a bezel that goes around it, especially since you’re not paying for it :D. I like the tacked on look… i feel the same way about my fender flares… but I feel like someone who bought 21" carbon fiber wheels won’t…

Not really much to visibly show yet on either… still building the sub-systems before the “big stuff” gets bolted on.

Nope… these guys are on the same level you are for that kind of stuff. They want function, not something pretty with sacrifices. Putting it in the dash= large amount of car not working, display buttons inoperative. Pretty bezel= cant read fuel, MIL cluster, or ODO. Also, they want the ability to remove the dash, and easily add the second autosport connector for a temp Chassis harness if need be just for the track, which can be re-configured and easily removed for street use and alterations.

Drop by one of these days and take a look… you will see how there is literally no other option with this setup, and that is actually looks fine. The dash is designed to be a bracket/surface mount, not recessed in any case. The flash on the camera makes the bracket MUCH more noticeable than it really is, it is hidden by the dash completely.

Can’t that dash display the fuel/cluster/mil? I know that my cheap DASH2 can… as far as relocating the cluster, i meant can’t you drop the OEM cluster back more, or relocate it to another area?

The dash can, yes, but you probably dont know- the ENTIRE gauge system on the Viper is all over a Databus. There are actually no direct sensor inputs into the gauge cluster. The gauge cluster receives the bus communications and decodes them to run its internal gauges, or outputs the raw signals to a secondary cluster. it also runs all of the other dash communication between the BCM and the dash items. In short, none of the inputs to the gauges could be decoded by the display anyway… I would have to re-wire the entire car to add them, and I would STILL lose dash functionality.

Sure the lotus is the same way, that’s why a lot of guys lose the stock cluster and replace it with a display like this. But you should be able to pull signals from where they meet the ECU/BCM or whatever is encoding the CANBUS, right? As in, before they’re encoded, I can’t see a fuel gauge, or any other sensor that I’d like on a dashboard, even in this day and age, being more than a linear voltage change or a simple digital output.

Not hating, just talking shop.
