VTEC Controller worth getting? Yes,why? No,why? Any gains/advantages/good things from one? Any reasons why it is a waste of money?
Well depending on motor. If it is a DOHC VTEC beast then its worth it. If its a fuel sipping Vtec SOHC it won’t make much of a difference. Without being on a dyno you will never know if you are gaining anything anyways. Just b/c it kicks in lower doesn’t always mean more power. I’m sure you will get more resposes and further explain.
IMO its kind of a waste unless you’re doin modifications that would require you to bump your vtec point(cams or intake manifold, etc…)
im planning on going big with ls/vtec turbo in the future just wondering if I buy it now will it payoff in the end? is it worth $300?
no, because more than likely your gonna use crome or hondata to tune your car with and they will be able to control your vtec point.
What can I gain from getting one?
Absolutely nothing performance-wise compared to a chipped ecu. Do not buy one, waste of $300 period on your obd1 set-up. If you were obd2 and chipping was not such a cheap way to go then a VAFC or similar product is useful to a certain point.
alright
thnx for the help
Modded car with a chipped ECU > Modded car with a VTEC controller
if i remember correctly, using a vtec controller only changes the crossover point of the cam lobes. it does NOT change the fuel crossover point as well. so therefore you’d be running on the vtec lobe but w/o the extra fuel needed.
it might make it sound cool when vtec engages but it’ll do sqwat for performance. at the very least, get a piggyback w/ fuel mapping capabilities.
