I am wondering if it covers any rust on the car within 12 years correct? What are some stipulations, if any? The work will most likely have to be done by the VW dealer correct?
This 2000 Passat gls has some rust on the rear hatch near the wiper arm and a small hole in the hood, will it be covered and fixed free? Not to sure how VW does things, any input on this will be helpful.
Call the dealer and see what they say. worst they can do is laugh at you. If it does apply I would love to know how that works cause from what i know it doesnt cover any rust caused by such things as rockchips/scratches which means thet you have to prove that the corrosion was independantly responsible. I could only see this being possible if the paint in only bubbled up. My 98 GTI has clear through holes in the rocker panels and nearly through the hatch below the latch. I jsut ground off as much as i could and sealed the area till i can do further repairs/replacement.
it says 12 years when i look up my car… hmm, my roof is faded horribly, i should give this a shot, especially since it’s the only part of the entire car that is faded
Yeah, if I am not mistaken this is limited to fenders/quarterpanels, but don’t quote me on it. I hear them talking about it on TDIClub every now and then.
correct on early tdi’s they had a piece of foam or whatnot between the fender liner and the fender. this collected water/moisture over time and would then rust the top of the wheel arch.
on my last tdi i got both front fenders replaced and sprayed…
