VW R32 is it really worth it?

The whole reason I was looking at it was because it was a hatch. I wanted the performance similar to an STI, but the seats don’t fold, so I needed the cargo space. I settled on the wrx - however, I underestimated it, so I would no longer consider it “settling”.

where on there is a GTI with 300hp that is on basic chip/exhaust/intake?

By the way: I had a stage 2 GTI (Stage 2 tuning tuned to 19psi, TB Exhaust, intake, Forge DV)

Also that is a tuning company from Greece, I only quickly looked but a lot of the cars that you posted are not available in the US

i love vw but overall i would go EVO for the category

Yeah, the dyno second from the top is for a 30th anniversary. It wasnt available in US and has a different sized turbo than a US spec GTI.

Marks car is a lot of fun to drive. I’ve taken top PAX both times I’ve driven it, and I think I ran a top PAX time with it on a fun run too. It’s actually very tossable for a heavy car.

Is it a better deal than an EVo or STi, especialy if its for just a casual driver, I can’t really comment on that, since I haven’t gotten around to hopping into one of those, but the R32 is fun.

In Rochester maybe, but not at all nationally, at least in Stock. In catagory’s where you can mod them though they do well.

Just out of curiosity, did you ever top pax in the mini?

Yet the ride quality and quality of interior are the only places where the R32 is better. And I never denied that it was going to be better for some people. He asked if it’s worth it without specifying what his exact desires were, and I assumed that, given that it’s NYSpeed, the performance would be the primary consideration, in which case, it’s NOT WORTH IT. It doesn’t out-perform the Evo. I never said that it’s NEVER worth it.

When asked on a forum that has SPEED in the name if the slower car is worth it for the same price, with no other considerations given other than “AWD but not a Subaru,” forgive me for assuming that the value judgment was being made largely on performance, and giving my opinion accordingly.

Based on your criteria, as I said before, the Kia Amanti is going to be a better car for some people than a R32, or a Corvette Z-06, or a Lamborghini Gallardo. It’s a bit more dramatic of an example, but the same principle applies; we can admit that the car’s better for some people, but if asked bluntly “is it worth it,” in a performance car forum, your answer should be based on its performance, not how supple its leather seats are.

And as discussed, the fact that you went with the mini over faster cars proves that you’re arguing for something that even you don’t believe.

Never got to drive the Copper S. There was the “engine go boom” incident, and then incident where there was a cone mark on the roof as a result. So just didn’t get a chance. And that was the Turbo car too, and his is a SC one I think.

The HS car I drove 3 times. Didn’t take top PAX, but I did win a Pro, and beat the car owner each time

As you just proved, by completely ignoring my actual argument and instead arguing against something that almost resembles it at a glance, you can make it look like you’re right (when you’re actually not). Hope it makes you feel better.

Buying used is completely different from buying new in every way that’s pertinent to this discussion.

:fail:

Congrats, you just made my ignore list because I’m tired of talking to a wall in every thread.

Likewise, then, because I’m tired of looking at posts from people who compensate for a lack of reading comprehension with a superiority complex.

hahaha ya after I responded to his HP claim I’ve decided to give up as well

I might have been misled there, I was going based off a knowledgeable friend’s word, and copy and pasted the first likely Google link. I’m not arguing that without having more time for research.

Well I can see I caused quite a stir on the section. I am going to pursue an S4 or the R32 but before you cut my ass Jim! I am going to be selling everything off in my garage this summer almost all of my tools welders and yes the metal band saw as well. I am done with modding,or even for the fact of changing my own oil. Life has changed and as much as I love the Subaru’s it is time for me to progress, as I was once a die hard GM and fell into my first Subaru over 10years ago and I admit if my Galant VR4 did not burn I would still be driving that. I would love to own a Audi TT but I need to look at the more pressing issue to this matter is the herniated disks and partial loss of feeling from the wast down due to my back injury . I will be having it fixed in a few weeks with 2 separate cage infusions. Therefore I need a car that fits me and still have room for the children in the back. I am a tall man so I need my leg room and quite frankly I have ben in denial since I first sat in everyone I have owned even the BAJA is they don’t fit me , and if Jeremy Clark gives it a thumbs up on rear leg room with head room to spare then I have to say yes to it and place the Audi or the R32 as a consideration under the new car to own wall in my house. But its just so hard not to want the VW sure with its quirky problems and the funky AWD system that can be modded for a grand. Its just that the Audi says to the world expensive car and the R32 says look at me I am look just like a posh VW. I dont know and still have time to consider it .

The R32 price is high but they are nice. My buddy has an 04 R32, its a smooth ride, sounds like a beast with a stock exhaust with the open flapper mod and with the APR tune it moves very well. Other than listening to opinions, I’d say test drive one. If its all you expected and more and you can afford it…get it. Who cares what other people think. It’s your choice and your money. I for one like these cars. I have cars (I) would rather buy but, I would not mind having an R. I hope all goes well for you.

Pedley is a tall guy, so I figure you’d fit in an R32 just fine. Whatever you buy, it had better be AWD.

Oh I cant go with out the AWD going FF I would crash and the only other option I had in mind was looking at a 4 door Dodge Dakota or if I was healthy modding a full size 1500 series extended cab with an AWD transfercase. But I am not healthy enough and I like the exhaust cut out idea. Wasnt that a factory option on the originals R32’s
