Walbro Problem

last nite around 7 or so I threw in my new walbro 255lph fuel pump into my ca18 240sx… i drove around for an hour or so with no problems what so ever… i parked my car on whyte ave and came back to it around 130am… car would not start :grrr … would turn over but not fire up… so i said screw it i’l come back in the morning and figure it out… i get there at 8am n the car fires right up perfectly… what is happening here???
thanks in advance
Keith

update… after the car sat for a couple hours i went out to fire it up… no go … it just does what it did before…

Well that definatly sounds like a fuel pump. You might have a faulty part or some of the electrical is not right, you might wanna re-check the wiring.

just started it up now … cleaned stuff up n took it for a spin… feels fine now?? pump is working correctly… all i can do is wait a couple hours then see if it will still start for me :?

Flooding?

I bet your flooding due to leaking injectors. If they had a small leak before and stronger pump will make them leak even more.

Look for wet spots (or dust and dirt) collecting under the injectors.

check the fuel pump relay too. could be on its way out

Relay’s work or they don’t. Kind of like a fuse.

correct me if im wrong but …
should i be getting a new fpr with this pump?? my idle is irregularly high … would that be from too much fuel being put in the motor?? this could also solve my flooding problems…any suggestions?

Dude, you won’t need a fpr, the stock unit will work fine, check your injectors they may be leaking!!! Run the engine and pull each plug one by one, the one that doesn’t cause your engine to run like crap is usually the one that’s leaking. Replace the o rings on it with stock nissan units and you should be fine.

LOL I thought the same thing, til I had one that wouldnt work if it got hot in the car. The contacts wouldnt close all the way, once the relay would cool the thing would work. And trust me you can have intermitent relays, see them all the time on trucks. But i doubt its that just throwing out ideas.
