Watch Crew: What to buy?

man this thread went south in so many different ways, i dont even know what to comment on or what to laugh at
many people here don’t appear to understand that your total ownership cost of a $5000 watch may only be like $200 if you buy slightly used and sell a few years later in good shape.

yet the same people will spend $200 on a watch that’s worth nothing 5 minutes after they buy it.

and you’re the crazy one joe.
Yeah, I posted that a page or two ago. The haters don’t seem to care. :bloated:

This is also why I love buying things like high-end headphones or audio equipment - especially used. Sure, I might have spent $300 on a set of headphones, but I sold them 6 months later for as much or more than I paid for them. As long as you aren’t neglecting investments to buy toys, things like watches are a great hobby with a big cost of entry, but low overall cost if you want to recoup your money.

Spending 6K on one is retarded unless you make 300k /yr and dont care.
Most financially conscious people invest their money and dont spend more the 1k on a watch.
???

I know many financially conscious people who make 60K a year and buy 10K watches. I also know a bunch of idiots who make less and buy two thousand dollar rims…If I made 300K/yr I would buy a 350K watch. :zong:

Micah was right, you should have just posted on 6speed. Only post on this forum if its about Mighty Taco or altezza tail lights. Did you end up getting the B&R or the PAM?

B&RFTW

I just dont get the haters. Anyhow on topic i have always liked a nice watch and would like to purchase one or two of them. Anyhow where are the best places for me to be looking to buy them. Also at what point am i going to buy a watch that would hold value? As in when im spending cash how do i know it will have resale? Also not to sound silly but how do you keep it in good enough condition to hold value? Just be super cautious i guess. Anyhow advice on a nice watch i can wear around like my daily driver watch LOL probably around $500 maybe more. Then ill start looking for the weekend warrior.

there’s a watch forum, ask joe for the details

I still really like alot of the Invictas, the majority of them are fairly affordable yet they are still very classy.

fairly certain this is the next one I want…

LOL thats a swatch touch, that thing is actually kinda funny. You tap the face and it picks out a sex position.

offtopic: any good places to have my battery replaced/watch looked at and polished? Its a zippo collectors edition and the last time I sent it back to zippo it came back scuffed the hell up.

why are some of these watches so much money… the materials used in these several thousand dollar watches when broken down i doubt amounts to a value of over a few dollars. are they made of platinum, or secretly filled with diamonds wtf

If you have to ask, you would never understand.

Its more about the exclusivity that you only own one of 200 in the world, or the amount of craftsmanship that goes into a Breitling.

Watch gnomes have a very high hourly rate considering they are the only people with small enough fingers to work on those little gadgets. I mean seriously. Direct labor can be a bitch sometimes :gotme:

My breitling is 1/50 in the world, however it was a gift from the company that I work for. As I mentioned before, someone looking for a “classy” yes durable watch look into an Invicta.

Personally unless I was making over 300k+ a year I couldn’t ever picture myself spending over a few hundred on a watch. Yet as I look at mine, the craftsmanship that went into this. It really is quite incredible.
