They are an investment that really never depreciates

Off the top of my head… Fortis, Hamilton, Alpina, Ball, Sinn, Aristo, Glycine, Junghans, Junkers, Marathon, Poljot, Vostok, Aviator… There are all sorts out there that are good quality for less money than the original ones you posted.

This is an investment that you get daily use out of. It’s not sitting around appreciating. It’s being worn, wound, etc. After so long, you can possibly sell it for a respectable amount. :shrug:

Your car is an investment that you get daily use out of. You drive it, wash it, park it, etc. After so long you can possibly sell it, but no where near what you purchased it for.

In many cases a watch is an amazing investment. Case in point: Panerai issued 1950 of the “1950 homage” 127. The watch sold new for under $10K, 2 years later it’s now worth $20K - $25K.

Honestly, I don’t see how it could be interpreted any other way. Really, I mean more power to you if you want to drop a few thousand on a watch, but at the end of the day, it tells you the time (and whatever other BS features you feel you need). I don’t see it as a symbol of status, nor does it impress me to find out someone spent that much on a watch. If anything, it almost makes me question their sanity, and why they finance other expensive items they own, due to prior astronomical investments in the telling of the time. But again, if you got to the flow, do what you got to do…

Ever since the previous watch thread i have paid a little more attention to the watches i see once in a while. This one caught my eye.

Its one of several that are made from salvaged peices of the titanic. Sort of a neat idea but the watch itself just looks fucking badass to me. I do have more of an appreciation for watches now and maybe someday i will be in a position to afford somethign of that quality but for now i would stick with a high quality knock off even though there are some knob gobblers on this forum that turn their nose up at the idea…
