PWNED!
I think the answer to all of your problems is recirc the bov, ricer.
:tong
I might just do that, I’ll also be able to eliminate alot of clamps and couplers too.
Less couplers=less oppurtunity for leaks=peace of mind :ponder
dewittt
:ohnoes
lawlz, i dont know anythings about terbowz :lol
im gonna go out on a limb and say his BOV doesnt…
That limb might of just broke. But the spring tension is adjustable and I tightened it down a little bit. But the way BOV’s work is by the pressure difference on either side of the throttle plate. When the plate closes the pressure in the piping is higher than the pressure in the intake manifold, and that higher pressure pushes open the BOV.
dont act like you know what youre talking about, i mean don’t you work at mcdonalds or something? :umm
jk :tong
aren’t you like a particle counter or soemthign like that? jer told me but you know how he is about explaining things :rofl
haha no I’m not a particle counter, lol
What I do is complicated. I work in a clean room environment with semiconductor prototyping equipment.
whoa
MAF+BOV=BAD
Move the maf to the air filter, vent back into the intake and stop trying to ruin the setup that is proven to work.
Yeah last year I ran it like that^ and it ran great (minus the boost leaks) but I’m going to swing over to Adam’s shop and have him give it a quick look. Plus I’ll get to learn more about car stuff
I might end up switching back to the stock configuration, we’ll see.
Wrong…I need to save this little speech of mine because I correct this “operation” alot these days.
Bypass valves/BOVs are not blown open. They operate on the pressure differential change in the top chamber/chambers, not the pressure in the pipe. If your valve is dumping upon pressure build up you’re getting surge(however small of an amount that may be). Valve should be adjusted to open at the pressure differential change, hence why good valves have tension adjustment and why a properly setup valve just opens slightly at idle vacuum(~18-20hg or so). Setting up like that give the best response of the valve. Unfortunately many piston valves require excessive spring preload to seal at high boost levels, which reduces valve response at the time of pressure differential change in the top chamber(s).
Tom is right though…this setup should be a draw through MAF with recirc. Only right way to do it. Or convert/tune to speed density and ditch the MAF altogether…
:umm
Yeah now that I reread my previous post I see what I misunderstood. The BOV opens when the pressure changes, not just max intake pressure.
Well maybe I’ll stop by anyway so you can check the tension adjustment ;D
Adam gave me some great ideas to solve this problem and he sealed an opening around the hot pipe to prevent water from hitting the filter directly. Thanks again :bowdown
I think JClark said it best “Adam is THE jam.”
dude you know alot of shit.
That’s an understatement.
Shhh. :ssh He’s going to raise his rate again if you guys dont keep it down.
Adam who? what?
I hear he does terrible work, never ever trust the guy with your car.
:ssh
Yeah, he wanted to fix my car with duct tape!!! OMG WTF!!!
