Well, put Mark’s car against AWDRIFTER’s car and see who comes out on top. Modded Evolution vs Modded 1LE (if he joins the site or is informed of such a challenge).
and jeeves, its not an excuse, its a fact…no matter the outcome whoever loses is gonna say that it wasn’t fair because :insert excuse here: hence why i said the only way to kill the argument is to have the same driver in both cars
im not really too sure where all the anger is spewing from…
please dont turn this into another “if you dont accept the challenge than your balls are oo <— this big and if you do accept the challenge they are OO <– this big” thread.
You know what’s really lame? This whole thread, and this whole challenge.
First of all, what exactly do you plan to prove by attending a Neqclub.org event? You do realize that it is an HPDE, better known as a driving (safety) school? Says it right in black and white on their website. That’s different from a lapping day or practice session .You also realize that based on your group pairing and your instructor, your speed will vary? How are you going to “prove” anything, when you are only allowed to pass on a point-by, or on the straight? And that’s assuming you even make it into the intermediate or advanced groups where passing is even allowed!
The only way to “validate” this challenge is actual wheel-to-wheel racing , something that quite frankly just about all of you (except for by my count, 3 people in this thread) do not have the money and balls to do. You’ve got to pay to play. Otherwise everyone would be a proffessional racer. As for the balls, it’s one thing late breaking 400 ft fron the turn by your lonesome. It’s a different story when you are 3 or 4 wide latebreaking in the same corner. A lot of people’s balls would shrivel, and quite honestly sometimes brains is a bit more important in that situation. So lets just drop the “Do you have the balls to XYZ”, ok?
Why don’t you people stop jockying for props, and just enjoy whatever car you have. Who gives a fuck who’s car is “better”. None of you have the driver skill to even bring the “which car is better” variable into the equation anyway (Bottoms excluded of course). Go to the neqclub.org, learn how to drive your cars (some of you need it), and have some fun.
The rest of you, feel free to return to the bench and continue racing via magazine article. Or “basketball”, or whatever.
not really anger, sorry if it came across that way. Just one of those things where people like to sit behind a keyboard and do all this talking but then never want to do anything to back it up. I just find it funny that two guys with a camaro and a firehawk are the ones signing up for a roadracing class, while the people who always talk about handling and twisties arent.
Ya and what is the first step to actual road racing? Going to a school to learn all the basics and start from there. And yes mark is using his little challenge as a means to get people to actually go out and learn to drive and enjoy their cars instead of worrying about internet facts and figures.
thats exactly my point. You will never have two exact same cars race each other so there is no point is trying the “lets compare apples to oranges” stuff. And you cant even use the “have one driver drive both” because i [font=Verdana]guarantee the driver will have more experience driving one type of car over the other so they can drive the one better then the other.

We are not talking about an import vs domestic. We are talking about a Camaro vs an EVO.
Since there is no compararo between an Evo and a Camaro (for obvious reasons), how about we compare an Evo to a Z06? Which, when all cars are in the hands of a very capable driver, we can safetly say outhandles a Camaro.
And yes, he is calling people out. Great. He can spend 450 bucks and take a couple days off of work. Other people can’t.
And it is apples and oranges, and it’s not BS.
And AutoX is like the 1/8th mile, it may not be as fun for some people, but a lot of people still do it and it still proves what a car is capable of. And it’s cheap. Very cheap.
Dood, you’re being sarcastic and playing devils advocate. But you are coming off as a dick. I would suggest you change your tone and demeanor on this board (since it just seems like attempts to stir up more BS) or just leave.
There’s getting a point accross, and sounding like a dick when you do it.
This is true. However you can get a pretty good feel for who can and cannot drive. Lap timing is not allowed, nor is passing outside of passing zones, but if your on the ass of the guy in front of you, then that slower car will be flagged to let the faster car pass. It about as safe as you can get outside of a full out race. It will come down to the driver.
These events are for fun, but they are competitive. The Audi school is by far one of the safest schools to attend. I do believe reading a while back on ubrf about the porshe club having two deaths out in california. Audi’s track record is one of the best around.
And who is really going to wheel to wheel race in (for the most part) their daily drivers? The Audi club events are a great time, and I would invite anyone who is into actually driving their car to join up.
This computer ate two of my responses, I’ll just have to write something later. I challenged people to come out and show me what their car had too, since I could prove mine was formitable. I mentioned there were instructors and that it would be a great time, good learning experience. What more could you want. Instead I see vast generalizations and words being put into my mouth.
4 rizzle, its not even worth the drama. Invite some people to come play and its world war III every time. Atleast you know the fun we can have in the 1LE, I’ll try to get some harnesses for us next time :bump:
If we compare the EVO with the Z06 there really is no comparison on a tarmac track. About the only way an EVO could beat a Z06 would be on the dirt/rally track. I don’t really think you can compare two cars that aren’t even in the same ballpark as far a price. We are talking about roughly a $20k difference
I’m pretty sure the EVO can beat a Z06 on a tarmac track as well. They are just a very well designed, great handling car. They didn’t have to strip it, remove all power options, and sell it as another model to make it handle… thats all.
The only really worthwhile post in this thread was Ricks… I mean none of the people arguing here have any idea how to run on a road course, yea you could go out there and try but what will end up happening is you will go out, have fun, but probably do very poorly
not to be said in any disrespect to anyone, as I would be doing the same thing, but you guys are trying to treat road racing like a street race, where pretty much anyone can compete (READ: compete, not win)
I hope a lot of people do go out to the track, you’ll all probably have a lot of fun and end up talking about it together for a while. However its a pretty big bill to foot, and it would be foolish to not enjoy it
