Weight loss tips thread

If I focus on removing as many carbs as I can from my diet (within reason) I end up eating as many as I should. I used to eat a ton of pasta, potatoes, and so on… So If I dial back, and think about all carb intake, it’s back to a normal to low level. People eat way too much of them… It’s amazing how quick it’ll add up. My typical approach is to avoid any after my second lunch (I usually split lunch into two smaller meals) and have been having good luck.

Interesting update. I’ve been about two weeks (loosely) following that no grains, dairy, or legumes diet. Just a lot of meat and veggies. Maybe a piece of fruit every other day. Some nuts.

After about 7-10 days I started noticing my appetite went down considerably. I’m eating way less and am more satisfied than on my normal American diet. There’s a chapter in the book on hormones and digestive regulation and I’m thinking that eating properly has screwed with my leptin production or response or something.

I also feel better all day and sleep better and shit better.

25 lbs down in 8 weeks

Went from a 40 waist to a 34

I hit my goal weight of 200lbs this week, FINALLY. Took a year.

now, to continue my good eating habits and tone everything in…lol

Congrats man. I am sure it feels great.
I have been doing the two steps forward one step back approach the last couple weeks. But at least it is still moving in the right direction.
-119.5 this morning

Awesome Ron!

it is somewhat bittersweet haha, I dont LOOK the way I want yet, but I FEEL great. I figure I have about 2 months to get the LOOK I want for the summer lol

I hear ya. People are more excited for my accomplishments than I am at this point. That is why I have not set a number goal for myself. I know what I want to look like and I am not there yet. Maybe another 30 will get me there.
But it does feel great being able to go for an hour plus on the elliptical or go for a run, when I could barely go for 15 mins when I started.

-129.5, rounding up and celebrating tonight. Going slower lately, but I have been lifting a lot more. I figure that the added muscle is keeping the numbers from dropping as fast, but the pants are looser so I know I am still heading in the right direction.

Im down 12lbs in 2 weeks. 208 - 196, looking to be at my old weight of ~ 180. Just keep an eye on calories! Worked well for me in the past. When i was 17 i went from 228-173 by doing the same thing.

Good stuff. Wish I could just watch calories, I can cut to 1,500 and seem to just maintain my current weight. I need to turn the furnace on to burn calories. At least it is getting nicer out and I can go for walks or runs. Less good stuff on TV to watch while on the elliptical.

Someone took a pic at a suprise/joke party they threw for me over the weekend so I figured I would post it up.

Before I started End of June last year:

This past sunday:

I gotta say…after losing all that weight you should buy a new pair of jeans? Those must be your old skinny jeans based on how baggy they are on you now.
Kidding aside…congrats. Impressive results!

Damn Ron, nice job bud.

I started doing a couple circuits this past month. Lost 10 lbs, but pants got way looser. Knees are more fatigued so I’ve been doing some crazy leg workouts last week. I almost puked

I hate/love this feeling.

FUCK YEA Ron!

i can’t see the pics. WTF

Well those jeans are 12 sizes smaller than what I used to wear, but yeah I do have another pair that fit better. Still don’t like the feeling in tighter jeans.

Howie I remember when u dropped some weight back in the day. It helped to see other people that could do it. I am hoping to drop another 20 before the end of June.
I will try to find another pic or two of the before. The side profile is scary.

Not sure why, I posted up another from when I hung out with Brock’s training partner last year.

I can see them now. Great work man!
