Hey guys,
I drove up to ottawa for the weekend in my S13. and after i got off the highway it started making this weird like purring sound. mostly just when i accelerate. I don’t really notice it when its idle.
Car is a 1990 S13 SOHC.
Basically main question is will I make it home? about 5 1/2 hour drive?
If you need more info on the car let me know … and bare in mind i dont have access to many tools or anything haha…

Cant believe you drove to Ottawa.
If the car’s performance hasnt changed and there are no engine lights, its probably an exhaust leak.
Also check under the hood to see if theres any rubber hoses cracked or popped off their fittings

ya i did haha it wasnt that bad of a drive actually. and ya no engine lights, no cracked hoses or anything… everything looks pretty well fine. think i will make it home? i have my CAA card just incase though.

when it “purrs” does it shake the whole car kinda, or does it just make the noise and thats it?
ummm actually ya i noticed it shakes when i was parked and revving the engine a bit… itll kinda shake when the rpms drop
headgasket ? i guess thats putting kind of ?
Thanks for the help… Realized it is my exhaust Manifold leaking… and two of the bolts on the top of it have either broken off or just fell out…
