For my 93 RX-7, I’ve been quoted 2.5k for exterior/door jambs/trunk, basically anything visible except engine bay. He’s also going to fit my Amemiya bodykit and smooth over all dents/dings/waviness/etc.
Color will be either a flat white or sky blue. Pearl/metallic = extra.
It’ll get painted by Carl at Troy Hill Garage. I think the price is decent?
I was quoted 2.5k at another shop for about the same basic work, gloss black and fiberglass fenders mounted. As stated before sounds like a deal for the amount of work any bodykit involves
Thank you everyone for your replies. He did bodywork on a friend’s RX7. I never saw the before pictures, but according to my friend, he was amazed at how the dented door panel came out looking as good as new.
When I looked at the car, the (red) paint looked vibrant and glossy. There wasn’t orange peeling, but there was a little bit of red on the edges of the black trimmings that go round the doors/windows. I told the painter about that, so hopefully he’ll be more careful with my car.
I don’t know how true this is, but to paint the engine bay, I was told I would have to pull the engine. The labor involved in doing so would be close to $1k - not worth it. In the future, if I ever need to rebuild the engine (damned rotaries), I will spray the engine bay to match.
