there kicking tires theres no drive set yet, it would be a good idea tho.
I bet there is going to be alot of modded cars forsale this summer for cheap
I’d be up for a harmless get together with a car show kinda theme. I have a feeling my car will attract its fair share of attention.
cops have nothing better to do, than harrass us, maybe i should pick up being a serial killer instead of driving a 240, they dont seem to harrass thoses guys, fucking cunts, or maybe become a serial killer and drive a 240sx, lets see if they fuck with me then, cop are cowards, yea ther there to serve and protect, but they focus on the wrong stuff as allways, how many murders has happened since the year started, huh?? are most of them solved, fuck no, how many street racing incidents for the year has caused death or majour damage, deaths > maybe 1 or none, majour damage, none, i heard of an incident from a friend, in woodbridge, at a timmies, cops blocked off the area and mto came around and gave everyone a ticket to have there cars be checked out by certified mechanics hired by the mto, now that is fucked!!
We need to organize with the older guys (v 8) and other car clubs, to hold a very large protest to show that not every tunner car is a racer and you donot need a built car to street race. Lets set a date for a protest. I say June 8 or 9 for the protest, Guys it’s going to get worst guys, soon the Insurance companies will cancel your policy if your car has mods ( muffler, rims and bodykit). PROTEST, PROTEST, PROTEST.
I’m down with that… Lets get some really big signs a large group of people and shove those signs up parliments ass… Stupid profiling punks! With all the crap out there they got nothing better to do.
You know what the solution is right? Buy a stock 911 Turbo and fight the power
ohh nooos im so down with that =), if i could ever afford it.
What needs to be done is to establish a council such as the OMVOC, that was to be created about a year ago but didnt really end up going anywhere. And make a large group of REAL enthusiasts that enjoy tuning and racing cars at a track as a hobby and when on the streets obey the laws and drive like a normal citizen.
This group would have to include cars of all ages and makes, Domestics, Imports, oldies etc. And prove that many of the people that truely put time and money into their vehicles are not building them to race on the street, but rather to enjoy as hobby just as a gardeners do with their garden or a model train builder does with his trains.
We put alot of money and pride into our cars, not to be taken away by the power hungry, money grabbing government. Something has to be done.
how about some kind of posters or other propaganda to gather interest from other tuners? members here are pretty spread out, itd be really easy, ex, someone could design a couple posters to raise awareness, post it on a couple forums, ppl start printing them off and the ball starts rolling from there
…i think itd really help if people started recording race related accidents/deaths that had no tuner cars involved at all…maybe even a comparison to accidents involving tuners? some hard facts would actually help
[Stands up and starts to clap]
just a Q out of the blue…
wat if they tow ur car away and have the MTO check it over
and is completely safe for the road, who going to pay for all the car pound, and MTO inspection charge?
I got my MTO inspection SAT, April 28 in Bloomington, I say everyone come down and protest this shit, there will be so many cars there since like a million people got this notice for the same day, so just come to see what they look for at least. Just bring a completley stock car lol, any certified mechanics are welcome too, so u can argue with the mto f**kers of whats safe and unsafe cause I know they just want to tear me a new asshole.
I’ve done some more reasearch, I asked someone who has already been to one (tow truck driver) he went to one voluntarily and they pulled it off the road because the front end had half an inch play than its supposed to in the service manual!!!
Apparently they dont f**k around they actually measure everything so its within factory spec, and they have hired a buch of certified mechanics to do it. Crazy.
I also read that if they classify your car unfit and they pull the plates, you can bring to anywhere you want and safety it there, but you have to pay to reinstate your plates and shit.
w/ the service manual?
wait… what if you have a legit wide body kit on your car that’s from europe… it actually exist and it’s actually wider… now what would they have to measure to that?
Does anyone know if the MTO will check for a motor swap? Is your car considered “unfit” if it is not using the stock motor? I was pulled over last week and hassled about my suspension, exhaust, rims/tires (OEM size and winters), dealship licence plate surround piece. Wasnt given a ticket but I did get a warning. I kind of figured they would look at the basics like suspension, exhaust, emmisions, just wondering if the motor its self comes into play.
Everything that deviates from showroom oem is theoretically not legal. That includes wiper blades, battery, oil filter, oil, fluids etc… if it’s not done by or sold to you by the dealer according to the highway traffic act it ain’t legal. But it’s also not enforced either as that would be stupid.
But there is no enforced law preventing you from having a swapped motor from a similar vehicle/chassis as long as the cost of the motor was less than an oem replacement from the dealership (which is pretty easy to pull off)
therefore your s13 can have any motor from any other s13 chassis on the planet, Provided (here’s the kicker) The emmissions control units that were factory in your vehicle are in place and functioning.
That means:
EGR (and all subsidiary valves etc…)
IAC
Charcoal canister
Catalytic converter
O2 sensor
You cannont have anything vent from the engine except from the exhaust which legally can become atmosphereic at any point past the rear of the rear most seat in the vehicle.
So atmospheric blow by valves are a no go, it has to recirculate as per oem.
All positive crank case pressure lines must at some point be directed back into the intake pre throttle body and post maf you can still have a catch can but it has to vent back into the intake at some point.
I myself am in a spot of trouble in this situation as the engine I have in my car does not have the provisions in which to hook up an EGR there is simply no way to install it and have it functional in any way as the motor did not come with one at all from the factory. I believe there may be a way to get around this problem but I have yet to find out.
As long as your vehicle is structurally safe, and passes the manufactuers specifications for emissions you will be ok.
Oh and the police cannot tow your vehicle unless you have commited a crime, have been charged, or have some reason or inability to drive it or move it at your own expense at the time. So if you’re just pulled over and told to go get a mto test done, and they declare the vehicle unfit you have the right as you have not been charged with anything to have the vehicle moved to a location, and by a tow company of your choice and expense.
LOL
Ok, so just to clairify. My motor was oem in Japan, but never released in the north american market. My car is a 99 and it has a 98 STi motor. Same Impreza body style, and only a 1 year difference. I should be ok as long as all the emission control devices are in place and nothing is venting to the atmosphere asside from the exhaust? Now I understand all the other suspension and saftey things are checked as well, but my main focus would be the motor.
Sorry trinituner, but Paul Bernardo was WAYY ahead of you on that one.
lol… I’m surprised nobody made that joke yet.
^rotflmao
That’s awesome. We need to organize more of things like this and put it all together and attack the MPs and the Police with propaganda of this nature as they are attacking the enthusiast communities wit htheir propaganda through media and government and stupid rhetoric.
