what car to buy

some of you have seen my build thread and know that i am building an sr, but i dont have a car yet to put it into. my question for everyone is, what car should i buy, im looking for a s13, but i cant decide weather i want a coupe hatch, rhd sivia, 180sx or a different chassis, please put your input on what you would like to see, s13.4? kouki front, sil80 240sx pignose, chunki front? i cant decide!?!??!? what do you think?

At the end of the day you shouldn’t build a car as to what we think.

My input. Stay LHD at least, I see absolutely no point in going RHD, except for saying " Yo bro, my car is RHD"

Civic is best bro

LHD for sure… maybe an S2000?

just get something clean in great shape… that is most important. S13/S14 doesnt matter

Forget the s13

Save the hassle of potentially buying a rotted s13 or trying to find a good shape s13
Put Dylan’s Kouki front end on it and you’ll be set!

Many reasons for RHD, like clean chasis, stock with more power, and cheaper then finding a “clean” lhd car.

Since your going to have a sr already, a shell is an option too, but if i was in your position id pick up a nice cheap rhd chasis and sell the stock engine swap that was in it, and directly drop your built one in. With shells you always have to go chase those few random ends.

Picking hatch, coupe, s14, s15, R, shouldn’t realy be anyones choice but yours, you should already know.

:fail:

So many reasons? You only listed one. Which was dumb, because there is a such thing as a clean LHD car.

Only a retard would buy a “clean” LHD 240 for the prices there listed for. Around 6-10

When you can buy a much cleaner RHD Chasis for a few grand less.

Then swap the motor, because we all know SR’s are better then KA’s. ( 240’s come with KA’s, YO BRO MY CARS LHD )

So, that means investing way more time, and money.

People that hate on RHD, haven’t owned one. OR Can’t insure one.

1.Cheap
2.Clean
3. More Power

Ok, so the guy has to spend about 5g’s on (at least) a RHD one, go through the hassle of selling the motor. ( Because the purpose of this thread is he is already building a motor ). So out the window goes your its faster arguement).

You can find a clean LHD car for under 6 grand. Actually I only see one right now listed for more than that. Its called being smart, taking your time, and negotiating wisely.

I know of at least 5 rust free cars that were bought for under 2 grand right here in Southern Ontario. Now imagine all the ones that I don’t know of.

Or how about an American one? Ever heard of Zilvia? Rust free shells go for under $1000 on there frequently.

Or here’s another idea. They dont use salt out west. Clean cars there? Yup. Cheaper on insurance than a RHD? Yup. Easier to go through drive throughs and pass people? Yup.

So lets Review here…

  1. Cheap… Ughh no
  2. Clean… Clean LHD exist, or buy one from out west ( or the states)
  3. More Power… He already has a motor so why would you even mention this?

I wasn’t only mentioning RHD for the op, but to anyone debating RHD vs LHD. I would buy a RHD S13, over a LHD for the same price, in the same condition in a heart beat. Why wouldn’t you? Just for the difference in the motor. I know he is putting in a built SR, but I don’t know about you, if i found a clean S13 for the right price, i rather be left selling a nice clean SR then a rusty ka.

Both have valid pros, and cons.

Getting a chasis/car from out west, or the states isn’t as easy as it sounds. Travel time, expenses, finding out the cars a bucket after your a few days from home can all be minor set backs.

IMO RHD is the easier way, because finding insurance was no issue.

Also I pay $850 a year, vs $400 a month for my old SR Hatch.

Clearly both of our oppinions, and arguments are biased.

I own a 180sx and i pay 105 a month full coverage. So for ins it depends on ur record and ins company but both make good arguments bout rhd and lhd

And this is on the exact same policy with the same company just a switch of vehicles?

Just buy an AE86 and swap dat SR in durrr

Agreed.

I say Coupe or S14 chassis.

s13.4 convertable, real sexy!!!

depend how much you want to spend and what the car used for?

Follow the crowd… Buy 240sx with SR. Sell SR and buy an LS1… Be like everyone else.

rhd creates insurance hassles that over time will cost more than the added up front cost of getting a clean LHD car. plus, RHD is not better to drive in anyway (arguably more dangerous) and creates some inconveniences (drive thru’s, crossing the border etc.). if i buy an S15 i’m converting it over to LHD with an S14 interior or a full S14 identity swap

hmmmmmm, i might try to find a lhd s13 from the states or if i frind a rhd 180 or silvia for the right price i might take it. THIS Is so HARD TO C00se!
