what clutch do you use in your sr?

I have been looking around and can’t find a whole lot of driving impressions…

I have driven a car with a exedy stage 2. Didn’t like it, it chattered both engaging and disengaging.

I have been trying to find information about the blitz active clutch system but thus far I have not found anything…

thanks people.

Err… I have a KA, but my clutch is rated for pretty high power, so I don’t think you would have a problem on SR, plus, it’s available for it too. ACT organic w/ heavy duty PP. It’s absolutely beatiful, you get holding power, and it feels exactly like stock. DarkForceJackal has the exact same setup on his KA-T, and he’s very happy with it too.

I had the ACT modified street disk w/ extreme pressure plate, great solid clutch felt really good, but had the mismatched springs which caused vibration throughout the driveshaft, so I recently changed it to a stock Maxima clutch now w/ extremer pp, feels sloppy but does the trick.

Exedy stage 1, holds the power excellent, no slip, engages nice and smooth and pedal feel is almost like stock maybe just a bit stiffer.

www.euro-drive.com FTW

have a custom clutch made to whatever spec you want (which will be better and cheaper then any act/exedy unit) alot of users on this forum including myself run a Euro-Drive unit and will stand by it 100%

ive driven on an act organic disc heavy pp plate and its a beautiful clutch but i dont think it will hold much power. im currently using the exedy stage 2 and i really like it. very little chatter yet very grippy.

I’ve recently had a ACT HD-SS and it is an awesome, streetable clutch good to about 300ft/lbs. If I didn’t have a gross need to make more power I would never have changed this clutch.

I now use a RPS Max clutch rated at 550ftlbs. It is still streetable, but has on/off engagement that can get quite harsh in stop-and-go traffic. However, quick shifts at high rpm feel like this clutch is actually ripping apart the transmission - so it is definately doing what it is meant to do.

When i drove on an exedy stage 2 it chattered not only when I pulled away from a stop but it also chattered when going through the gears… is yours the same? This was the three puck clutch… are we talking the same one?

clutch should not chatter sounds like the flywheel was not resurfaced or there is grease on it.

^ good point for sure.

yes mine is the 3 puck ceramic. it does chatter a little from a stop but barely noticeable. through the gears? no way.

ACT 6-puck unsprung

Love it

^any more info on that?
harder then stock pedal? etc? what sort of hp can it take… I have looked on act’s site they don’t mention jack all.

what pressure plate did you opt for? the heavy duty or the xtreme?

Heavy duty pp.

I love the clutch, it grabs real nicely and since I dont do much stop and
go, I seem to love it.

i wouldnt recommend that clutch unless you are hardcore like gonad.

whatever you do is dont get a 4 puck disc or a unsprung disc if your street driving.

a 4 puck disc will chatter no ifs or buts about it.

and a unsprung disc has to be slipped alot to get it to engage somewhat normal.

best combo that i can suggest which is what i use is a 6 puck ceramic sprung disc with a increased load pressure plate. My pressure plate is rated at 2700psi of clamping force.

i can ohnestly say this is a great combo as i have pretty much changed more clutches in my car than people have fingers on their hands, and i did all this to find the perfect combo cause im a picky guy.

So with your 6puck + sprung hub, do you get any chatter at all?

Is your ability to slip the clutch any better than it would be with a 4puck sprung or a 6puck unsprung hub?

I have a Spec sprung 6-puck and flywheel. It can be slipped and its OK for daily driving but if I had to do it all over again I would go with a heavy duty full faced clutch.

If you ride it too much it will chatter and like happy mentioned with his clutch when you shift it hard it feels like the tranny is taking some serious abuse.

If you want to do drag racing go 6puck if you are looking for road racing I suggest something that will slip a bit and be more forgiving.

Yes, let this statement be a warning to everyone.

so what brand did you go to for that clutch…

Has anyone had any experience with the blitz clutches? I emailed them tonight to try to get some more info then what they have on their site, I will let you all know when I get a responce.
