ok thanks guys i am looking into all of these and trying to decide where to get and what for sure i want but thank you for all the input
i can’t say this for many other clutches… the act clutch and organic plate setup has proven to be underrated. i know a guy with a ka-t boosting 15 psi with that clutch and it still holds. i don’t know what 15 psi translates to in hp but its a lot. that clutch is rated at something like 257ft/lbs but will handle much more. i vouch for the act setup. i like it so much i bought one for myself!!
www.euro-drive.com you will be extremely please “both with quality and price” vs an act/exedy or something else etc…
I’ve heard that the exedy clutch is not as good as the act street performance. Cheap in quality aparently. Then again I might have heard wrong. Some people have absolutely no problems with it.

is it true that some clutches hop ? is that the same thing as chatter ? has anyone experienced this with what kinds of aftermarket clutches ?
Hopping and chattering are the same thing.
What’s happening is the clutch is engaging so harshly, that the motor kicks back against the motor mounts. That little bit of give is enough to make that awful chatter sound.
Solid motor mounts make a world of difference.
But there’s also just noise, associated with unsprung clutches. The springs absorb a lot of vibrations, so without the springs, that vibration goes into your tranny, and eventually the chassis.
In this case, solid mounts just make the noise worse.
90% of clutches out there are the same.
Some dude sits down at a table and drills out the rivets on a stock clutch, adds new material and sends it out.
Whether it’s ACT, Centerforce, SPEC, etc. it’s all essentially the same.
Only a few companies actually manufacture the entire clutch assembly.
And about “holding” power … are you sure it’s not slipping? Way too many people don’t know what to look (feel) for. Just because he still has forward momentum doesn’t mean it’s not slipping.
And second, 257 rwtq is a lot for a KAT. Doubt he’s making that.
Why is 257 rwtq is high for a ka-t at 15 psi? News to me.
thanks for all the input guys but i got a clutch and am installing now and i am running a semi stock sr20det
Yeah, i’d think more like 357 rwtq at 15 PSI. Or at least 300ish…257rwtq would be more around 7-9 PSI.
And +1 for the ACT stage 1/organic disc.
