Can you provide that in writing? I was under the impression that was not the case in NY. My defensive driving instructor bet me her paycheck that I would not find that law in the driving law book. I would love to collect that bet.
There are signs all over the highways.:ohyeah:
uhmmm, it is completely up to a state troopers opinion whether or not you are impeding traffic. And he can give you a ticket if he notices the douchebagery of doing this. There are lots of laws that are left up to an officers discression and id love to see the day that a judge takes your word over a police officers about who was in the right or wrong of there so called judgement of action.
^
and that’s why you pay a lawyer to kindly tell the officer he doesn’t understand the word impede because he doesn’t have a college degree.
you’re right but they say “slower traffic keep right, use left lane to pass” it doesnt say “dont fucking drive in the left lane jerkoff its illegal!” theres 2 lanes for a reason…
but chances are pretty good that if your in the left lane, your going faster than the posted speed limit, hence being pulled over…ive driven on the 90 in the left lane all the way to albany only to move to the right lane to let the faster drivers by (mind you i was doing a solid 80 mph the whole way) when my radar would go off i would slow down to 70 still in the left lane and pass right by the cop sitting in the median, never got pulled over…
IANAL, but maybe this?
it’s as close as I could find in the VAT.
" § 1120. Drive on right side of roadway; exceptions. (a) Upon all
roadways of sufficient width a vehicle shall be driven upon the right
half of the roadway, except as follows:
1. When overtaking and passing another vehicle proceeding in the same
direction under the rules governing such movement "
^^ basically, no speeding
:word: That was kinda neat though. Goes to show that 55 on the thruway is way too fuckin slow. Autoban (sp) ftmfw.
If you are doing this on a highway you would most likely be dealing with a state trooper and most of them do in fact have degrees. They are required to have at least 60 credit hours to get the job.
it is kinda funny but i would never do it, some people that are moving fast on the highway might have an emergency to attend to (accident, pregnant wife, etc…)
its hard to tell if you arent with them, let them go
