What is wrong with our judicial system these days?*help*

I need to vent so im going write a long story just to get opinions and reactions and maybe some helpfull coments. I just got home from court. Please excuse my spelling and grammar.

on september 12 2005 i bought a 1984 rx7, I grabbed an insurance slip from my s13 and the rx7 owner picked me up in his civic to go get the car. On the way we stopped at the mto to get the vehicle registered and get a 10day permit. By the time we got there it was 4:45 and they closed at 5. I went to the clerk and said i had purchased a car and needed a 10day permit. she asked for my insuracne slip, looked over it and informend me it was out of date… so in my haste to get there i grabbed the wrong one, i had a valid one in my car but stupid me took the expired one that i should have thrown out a while ago. I ask her to call the insurance company for proof, she said its too late in the day they are closing in 15min come back tomorrow.

I left pretty fumed.

Now the insurance policy i am under under states that i have 14 days to inform my insurance company of purchase of a new vehicle and i am covered untill that point. So i thought atleast i have insurance because this is a new vehicle, i just have to inform them once i get home.

So thinking the worst i could get if i got busted driving with my s13 plates was invalid plates wich is like a $120 fine.

So im driving the rx7 home and the tire blows out on a single lane highway. Just my luck 2 inconveniences in a row. There is no place to pull off onto private property for like 3 km each way.

The old owner is following me in his civic, he takes me to tim hortons where i call for a tow because there was no spare tire.

make a long story short a cop saw the vehicle on the side of the road, ran the plates and it came up as my s13 so he reported the car stolen.

we get back to the rx7 and i explain to the cop the situation, But because i had only an expired insurance slip to prove my insurance he writes me a summens for having no insurance and invalid plates for nov28 court date.

i have now been to court for the fourth time (feb 27), Im pleading guilty on the plates charge and not on the insurance charge. Because i still belive i am the victom and i made no fault.

In november, the prosecutor said that if i get a letter from the insurance company saying i was covered under insurance that i wont be charged. after calling the insurance company 2 months after sept 12, they had not never of the problem in the first place cause i never informed them within the 2 weeks after i was pulled over because they took the vehicle ownership so i couldnt get it registered. thus there was no need for insurance. So they are basically saying we wont say you were insured under the car because you never told us you bought it, only the s13 and the thunderbird which is the other vehicle in the family were insured on that date.

so all i could get from the insurance company is their 14 day policy in a letter, which to the average person makes sense.

The prosecutor explains i had to call the insurance company first and it doesnt say that int he policy it says i just have to call them in 14 days and you are covered under the new vehicle untill you do so. Even though it says in their policy that i have 14 days??!?!?! They wont give me a letter saying i was insured under the mazda, and if they did it would be thrown out of court

so now i have trial date set. Over complete bullshit even though i tried to do everything right in the first place. This is what the honest person gets!A fucking shot in the ass while you see and hear of so many people driving all the time with no insurance and expired plates and bs.

I cant afford a lawyer and im facing charges of over $5000, the court wont throw it out.

im so fed up with insurance bullshit, the fucking people and loop holes in our fucking society its system.

This is causing me so much stress, Which is turning to rage.

So this is how the judicial system can try and fuck over any average joes
life.

did i learn anything?
Yeah. I have learnt that i lost all respect for our country, our government, and our police.

replies?

Wow - how did the charges get to $5000?

the fine for having no insurance is $5000 minimum,* edited and reworded for more clarity*

That’s a shitty situation and that sucks man, however you gotta be straight up with your insurance company in the first place if you ever want to see a return. They love to f*ck you over if you dont follow “their” rules.

ummm maybe just show them a copy of the insurance slip that was valid at the time , didnt u say u had one in your car S13 at home ?

Shitty buzz dude, the worst I’ve had is when we renewed my car last year they wanted pictures… After a year of the car already being on the policy. So I had to return everything to stock for a few days.

This country is going downhill, fast. Even Europe, which is getting a good shafting too, is probably a better place to be. Must… get… out…
