What is your take on this no snow

I’m torn. On one hand I want to do a winter driving event or two this winter and just have some fun driving on the back roads in snow like an ass hat. On the other hand, i’m managing to get out on my bike in December and I have yet to ride on the trainer.

Temps are really the only strange thing so far. It’s not unusual to not have a white Christmas. With the lake still warm it will bite back.

I could give a shit. A little snow to make it a white Christmas, and enough for me to go and play in a couple of parking lots, then it can go away.

I wish you all were getting some snow so that I could do some snowmobiling when I am up for x-mas…looks like that surely won’t be happening, argh

I love how people always talk about having a white Christmas. Who cares?!?

You know. Its kind of annoying knowing every year I drive to Ellicottville 2 times a week and that the car that I bought was suppose to be for winter. (AWD) I wanted to have fun driving in the snow and I’ve had one chance so far. Sad knowing I could still be driving the s2k and its put away now.

Also the fact I can be making more money a week by teaching at Holiday but that its taking them to long since the no snow situation. They finally open and now with the rain today and the temps, who knows what Sunday will bring for me when I’m told to show up.

Some people do, get over it.

Give me 80’s and sunny & one season. I need to move to southern cali.

Fuck snow.

Christmas just isn’t the same without snow on the ground.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Hawaii, brah. Lowest temp I ever saw there was 59*. That was at night. In January. And broke a record low.

The only thing I want out of winter is for the buffalo river by the grain elevators to freeze solid enough to walk/land a parachute on.

Ya I know. The last thing I need when driving to Rochester for the holidays on top of the already massive amounts of bad drivers and traffic is snow on the roads.

Yes. I would have 0 problem with this.

The only thing with Hawaii is it is way too far being from WNY. If I had family in Cali or anywhere in the west, it would be easier but that is a lot of traveling to go home.

Meh. Let them come to you if they want and just go home for Xmas. Odds are if someone won’t come see you from WNY, they probably wouldn’t go see you from Cali either.

I personally would be fine with it. People in Hawaii come from all over and all have to deal with not seeing their families so they inherently become closer with their friends. Family isn’t just what you were born with.

Just wait til that jetstream drops, we’re fucked.

There’s a jetstream of bullshit coming out of your mouth…

It’s a lot to ask of people to travel that far, and for that much cost to visit. I recently went there, it’s a huge time commitment (jet lag and losing that day coming back) and a lot of money to fly. I can tell you that I wouldn’t ever want to do that multiple times per year. All because you wanted to live in paradise.

As a person whose sister moved to Cali from the east coast, I can say that it sucks for the family. My parents go out there once or twice a year, but they can’t afford any more trips out there, and my sister can’t travel with the young kid that often, because, again, it’s expensive and it’s a long trip. So, as a result, I hardly ever get to see my sister and niece, which sucks. My parents never get to see their first grandchild. I (as well as my parents) am super happy for her, that she enjoys living there, but it’s as if we lost part of our family. That sucks.

I’m probably a little jaded on this subject because I’ve moved around so much and don’t currently live very close to the majority of my family. It also depends on what really makes you happy. Could I sacrifice by having to travel from Hawaii a few times a year? Uhhhhhh, fuck yes. Everyone always complains to no end about travelling but it’s not as bad as people make it out to be.

However, for people who are closer to their families and don’t have much financial freedom, I see why it’s not much of an option. That’s why you just have to convince your entire family to move out there too.

I can agree with this… I’m in a similar situation with living in Utah, but mine and my wife’s family living in WI and NY. We’re not coming bay to WNY for the holidays just because it’s too much $$ this year. Between airfare, boarding for the dogs, and all the other expenses to transport myself, Jenn, and Colin (my son) out east, it’s close to $3k. We did a road-trip to CA to see my SIL and her family, and that trip was about $1k and that was just a 10 hour drive each way. It sucks in some ways, but so be it right now.

I frequently travel to socal for <500 dollars everything included…
