Posting for the owner.
Fucking train wreck that situation is.
That sucks.
For real.
Its going to come down to a battle of fine print and technicallitys.
I dont think I could keep my cool in this situation. I would fucking destroy the other dude.
Seems like the kid shouldnt have much problem getting back the car and or restitution as long as the dealership the old owner brought it to that made him aware of the stolen vehicle is willing to cooperate which it sounds like they would.
uuuuugh i would have never said nothing and noone would’ve ever heard of that Brendan kid ever again.
The state police already took the SRT jeep and sold at auction for $3500. Wish i knew that was happening. The wheels and brakes are worth that much. 08’s still go for mid 30’s. So, the OP is left with no vehicle, and his old one being parted out now by the kid who made the trade.
What the fuck? The cops are aware of what happened and nothing has been done about it?
Where does the kid live that had the SRT8. The newest owner?
I would say its more of a DMV thing not so much state police.
Not if the dealership told the kid it was stolen and he still sold it… I think both the old owner and the dealership for not calling police actually could be liable.
It was a person to person sale. The purchase of the srt jeep transaction was a trade plus cash. Sti traded for jeep and cash i believe or vice versa. Kid who got screwed lives in mass, jeep trader was in Ny.
They tried to arrest the kid and fine him 1500$ a year for 5 years for receiving stolen property. I believe this all went diwn because the OP blew the rear end in the jeep, took it out and saw a different vin number, entered it on carfax and it came up stolen. 2 days later, cops show up and take it.
He should have known better… Nobody that’s owns a jeep srt8 would wanna trade it for a Sti…
Fucking sucks, can’t imagine going through this shit and the headaches
Thats the icing on the cake.
Get fucked by some low lifes.
Ask for help from the police (right thing on paper to do)
Get fucked by the police.
They auction it off for pennies.
Dude is screwed.
Both the first jeep owners and the police are the crooks. Lesson learned… hire a hit man.
Looked at his fb, how did he get a Toyota FJ??
OH HELL NO!!! Would kill.
Yeah. Its horrible. They got the stolen vehicle back, its to much digging and BS to charge anyone with anything so its just, sorry, too bad. The thing had been registered, insured etc. Thats the funny part. Took them 3 years to catch it and it was only caught because op wanted to check why there was a different vin on the frame. Now, hes the bad guy. I think hes screwed unfortunatly.
This shit happens all the time, my fathers been dealing with a similar “too bad” case the past 6 years. He purchased a house from a guy private sale and all was fine first 4 years, all the sudden he starts getting letters adressed to previous owner in the mail with past due mortgage in the previous owners name etc. The guy took out an online mortgage for $300,000 on the house and never paid a dime. After he had legally sold it to my father. The mortgage company never called, came to check, nothing at all. Guy sent in pics of the property online and got the check in the mail. Now, hes living in florida on a 56’ house yacht in Miami and no one will prosecute him. NYS doesnt want to pay for extroditing costs to get him back here to prosecute him, funny though, my friend has a warrant in north greenbush for failure to appear for a red light ticket but, they want to go get him. So for the past 8 years my fathers been paying on a house that he’ll most likely lose because they dont care. They just want to auction the house off, cut their loses and move on. Spent tons of money on a lawyer etc to figure it all out and its pretty much a 50/50 chance for keep or lose. If they rule in my fathers favor he gets to keep the house and its 100% paid off but, the losing factor sucks.
BTW tampering with a vin plate is a FEDERAL FELONY Max sentence is 60 months in federal prison.
