What type of club/bar/lounge does B-lo need?

:word:

The last time I was at Prespa (a few weeks ago) there was a fat latino thug with a crooked hat bouncing, the large beer and wine list was gone, and the place stunk of chicken wings (no really, many of the patrons were eating wings at the bar). It had been on its way out for most of this year, but now its really shot.

Violator great post and you covered alot of what i have been thinking. Great input man thanks. If i own a bar/club it will not i repeat will not serve chicken wings(puts on flame suit).

violator hit it right on a LOT of aspects

redrum, that’s fucked up. when i started working there it was a lot of fun…a lot classier too…

don’t even serve food at first. most places can’t handle just the bar alone at first, don’t go into a full kitchen.

also, i’ll DJ :stuck_out_tongue:

Its a few years before i would even be thinking of making any final decisions. I only discussing the topic really just out of interest and to pass some time. I agree on the food i woud probably want appetizers(simple ones) at most. I like it when a place has the available option to eat something if i feel like it.

understandable!

I want in on this operation.

I have some funds to through at this too, you know this.

BALLER! B im down and so is Lignos. You know ive got zzzz funds son. But the place would have to be pretty nuts to pay out big enough to make three owners happy.

hedonism. lots of it.

I think that buffalo needs a place that feeds all the dirty excess one could want. A club with a touch of a strip club, music to get the whole place moving but not just moving, control the attitude of the place…lighting syncd to the music would be interesting, private areas with 6 bottle minimum service, dress code of at least neat, no gang colors, hot bartenders of both sexes that don’t fuck the patrons but flirt enough to keep em coming back, an area like la luna where you can go behind a railing for a seating area and not worry about getting drinks spilled on you. Oxygen shots, nothing wakes you up faster, legally. Decent beer/wine list but nothing uber crazy.

With that said, I prefer small bars with an interesting mix of people. That’s just cause i’m a people watcher. I think there should be a fight club.

It would for sure have a Fight Club. Neat ideas.

We need a chipotle.

I could go for a burrito bowl right now, But I would take a Jamba Juice over the Chipotle

I think there are a few other things as well that are done wrong here, using Toronto clubs as an example.

Just sitting here thinking, trying to figure out why the EDM clubs here fail. Well, it certainly isnt for lack of audience. I mean fuck, look how many colleges we have here filled with “imports” who have grown up around EDM. The scene is in demand here, and only getting bigger- Buffalo is always behind the times. However, the location of the clubs, and accessability I feel are the main factors that bring clubs down around here. If a club is allowed to fill up with shit bags, it will fail. Miserably. The key is to make women feel welcome (NOT BRIBED!) to bring them in lead by example as Toronto does. Ladies get in, scumbag dudes get turned away. People in line sometimes dont make it in- live with it. Ladies want to look at other nice looking ladies and dudes just as much as we dudes want to look at them. They do NOT want to feel threatened or “visually undressed” by a bunch of thugs who they would rather see burned at the stake.

The club CAN NOT be downtown or in a run down area, but does need to be “on the way”. This alone will grab some attention. If you have a line of people outside a club- traffic is going to notice and want to see what the deal is.

NO FUCKING RAP. EDM Clientle of any type would be going for the music! They want to know in advance that IS WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO HEAR.

Decor must be nice as said before, but there are other keys- for example, The Drink @ Guv in toronto. The dance floor is LOUD. The bar area is not and you can talk- BEST OF BOTH WORLDS. nothing is worse then weak music when you want to dance, or not being able to hear when you want to talk.

No matter what it costs, when capable, bring big name DJ’s regularly, but your main DJ better be able to rip it up as well.

Multi-Room (a la “small guvernment”) is a MUST. Dance room, Chillout/lounge room split.

Traffic is VERY IMPORTANT. Walkways must be unobstructed, and your bouncers must be instructed to keep fucks from standing and talking in them.

Clean bathrooms- use attendandts if needed. Its Buffalo- people fucking suck.

Cover Charge- Not expensive, but enough to ward off the lame-ass club-dwellers.

Promote The Afterparty Crowd. Yes, Drugs will surely follow, just keep it under control and out of sight. Hungover and high people spend money too! (and sometimes insanely so)

There NEEDS to be a draw however. A club with features like a rooftop summer patio, on a beach, etc are all draws.

GOOD PARKING. ABSOLUTE MUST!!!

While a full-scale Guv could not be supported here, I am completely confident that a smaller version of it could- if it was done right. Warehouse did not count, that was like taking one lame version of one room of Guv and trying to make it work. No Way.

yep.

dance music is going to take over. i kinda like playing in buffalo again since I don’t have to stick to top40 to move a crowd anymore…people are finally learning and I can get away with being creative again at a normal club…

so tired of most of the shit top40 out there…fuck man…i’ll play a rave if you pay me proper.

someone build a decent club and get some halfway decent DJs in here.

/Thread

Wasnt Warehouse all techno and EDM or whatever? That lasted long in Buffalo. Now its that buckin buffalo still right? The Novelty factor lasts about a year for most bars, then your fucked.

I think there are plenty of upscale lounges and bars all around buffalo. No need for anymore IMHO.

Good luck, its not a easy industry to get into in this area.

That does sound like a great place Dan but the issue at hand with that would be overhead for sure. Think about how much the startup of a place like that would cost. Now im not saying that it would fail but at that high of a risk you would most likley need to find someone already established in the business(and rich as balls) to be the one to open this type of club. Or a group of wealthy investors together could do it. What im saying is i dont think you will find someone to do this that isnt already loaded due to the extreme nature of the risk involved. But thats exactley what i was asking for when i started the thread what YOU the people who go out would want. So thats for the in depth response.

No there isnt. There are some ok ones but hardly many i would consider very nice. Also not many in good locations at all. Buffalo needs more developed strips. All of the bars/clubs on the strip benefit from eachother. If Hertel, Elm. or even Deleware had more places that were nicer more people would leave the Chippewa area to come there. I know you have traveled and you cant tell me that the nice lounges in Buffalo are on par with other areas. They arent.

I have a better idea…

Find out what girls in this area like…build that…guys will show up…

Thanks for the positive input Justin. Try answering what the thread asked for and then you can be a participating member of the thread. Thanks

I am not sure about the atmosphere but I know biometrics would definately be a part of cover charges and free drinks.
You could have crazy covers but the “desirable” people would be taken care of at the bar when they order drinks.
The “undesirables” would say, “This place is a rip-off lets get out of here”.

In other words, you would be using technology to weed-out the trash.
Retina scan FTW!

Edit: The bar could use your history to help serve you better, for example your favorite Scotch, etc would be on record.
I will call it Little Brother!
Edit2: A database of your music of choice could be made and the music being played would be based on who is currently there.
Tell me that wouldn’t be interesting!!!
Everything else is being automated, why not bar tenders and djs?
