What would you do... re: auto service

I don’t know what your conversation with the secretary was, but I know it wasn’t with Russ. If you don’t want to give him the chance that’s your call.

If the owner is not going to make himself available, then he has to hold all employees up to his standard. Sounds like he has some slackers on his staff. So when you have work done, and you’re dealing with the slackers, and not the owner, then that sours the whole experience.

Either way, he could be the nicest guy on the planet, but obviously it’s not carrying through to the rest of his staff, and obviously JayS’ issue is falling through the cracks.

That’s lame. They’re a vendor here? Under what handle?

Did you miss the part where he called and expressed his dissatisfaction with the person who answered the company’s phone?

http://www.nyspeed.com/forumdisplay.php?453-Licata-s-Auto-Service-(Alignments)

You’re all assuming he got the message in the first place. Or that he’s had the time to call back, hence why I suggested calling back in the morning.

She has nothing to do with it and can’t do anything about it. She’s the secretary.

If you want to complain about the service, don’t complain to the girl who answers the phone. It’s not her business and not her reputation at stake. Don’t even tell her why you’re calling. Just say you’d like Russ to call you back and that it’s important.

What I told her when she picked up the phone was “I’d like to speak to Russ”. She checked, he was on another line. She then asked what the call was about, took my information (my issue, name, phone, car info) and said she’d look into it. It really shouldn’t require a 2nd call at that point.

Bottom line, I’m cool with it. I’m not going to waste any more time on it. If someone feels real strongly that I didn’t give Russ enough of a chance fine, you take the imitative and point him toward this thread. I’m at the point where dealing with this any further is just a waste of my time. At this point I know a couple things.
1: A tech hid something he broke on my car.
2: After calling about this problem, either A: the secretary didn’t relay the message or B: the owner doesn’t care.

So that’s either 2 employees that haven’t done right by a customer or 1 employee and an owner. Either way, I think I can find another shop and do better.

The sad part… the alignment is great and she tracks perfect down the highway. My steering wheel was a little off center after replacing the tie rod and that’s perfect now too.

Boom! Exactly what I would have done.

This is what happened to me when a very “respectable” corvette shop put a starter on my C5. I ended up fixing it myself and learned a $500 lesson. LoL

Any one of my employees are capable of relaying an issue to me and I am able to get back in a timely manner. I’d be willing to bet I deal with 4 times as many customer as many as he does too. Jay did what was expected of him, I wouldn’t do anymore and I wouldn’t go back.

There are reputable members who have vouched for Russ in this thread (bracketracer, 99_civic_si, Carnut, myself) and have assured you ‘B’ isn’t the case.

That leaves only ‘A’ to which I’m sure we’d also all agree wasn’t intentional.

But like you said, it’s your call. And if you feel you can get better service elsewhere no one is going to try and stop you.

I was gonna post the exact same thing. If so many people claim to know the guy, send him a link to this thread. It’s all here.

I’m sure he would definitely make things right then seeing as how this is horrible PR for his shop on a website packed with people in his target market (local car enthusiasts).

Ah. So they’re not advertisers on here, nor members on here. Just a shop Onyx likes so they get a subforum.

AKA they are not going to see this thread.

Once again you guys put too much value on the sacred brotherhood of the message board. Who cares what screen names vouch for them being good when you have a first hand poor experience?

Right. And while even though people have vouched for Russ, even good people make mistakes. JayS made a respectable thread about it and from an outsider’s point of view, I think they wouldn’t necessarily judge one way or the other based on what has been presented. So in the end JayS walks away and I doubt Licata’s will lose anything over this thread.

Naw if anything I’d probably go there myself since he said himself that they did a great job on the alignment. A busted dust cap isn’t that big of a deal. It’s not right and was worth making one phone call to give them a chance to straighten it out, but it’s not a big deal. It’s not like they muffed the alignment or kept his car for days, or left the hardware in his suspension loose like that shop did to Geoff.

I just think it’s weird that Onyx insists that the onus is on Jay to go out of his way to give the shop owner a chance to make it right. You shouldn’t have to chase down the owner of a place to get a screwup addressed. A simple message with a secretary should get you a call back the same day.

Mods, please go ahead and lock this. It’s been discussed enough and it’s time for it to go off the new posts results. If anything further comes of it I’ll PM Josh and have him open it back up.

This is between JayS and Licata’s. No one else needs to play middleman.

Yes they’re vendors on this site. And yes they have usernames.

They will eventually see this thread.

Are they internet forum savvy or have enough time to post? No. Can they still read? Yes.

I can tell you (even without knowing for sure) that Jay didn’t mention he was an NYSpeed member or he would have received special treatment from the beginning.

The same special treatment that Cougarspeed received when he stopped in unannounced, dropped the NYSpeed name and got in same-day.

I said specifically in the Licata’s thread:

He obviously doesn’t know about the screw-up or he would have had a call back.

Again, assuming he got the message.

I thought I was done, but gotta call bullshit on the Nyspeed special treatment. I mentioned it when I dropped the car off, as well as when I picked it up. When I picked it up I said to the woman answering the phones in front of who I assume was Russ after he asked me how I liked the car and about my exhaust, “I came here because of NYSpeed so those sponsor dollars are working”.

I deff got special treatment the other day. But it was probably a combination of how sweet my car is and my stunning good looks.

Greg came to my office after your car was there. He was still all excited.

Do you like knowing that you give lots of dudes raging hard ons?
