You don’t need to air down unless you’re rock climbing. It makes the tires softer so they can better conform to rock surfaces for better traction.
If you’re going to Tift (I think I read that you guys were somewhere) you really don’t need anything special. It’d be hard to get a stock vehicle really stuck there.
Anytime you go offroading though, you should have a first aid kit, tow straps, spare tire, hand tools, CB or cell phone, and a hi-lift jack is a wonderful tool (they cost about $50). Also, NEVER GO ALONE. Make sure a friend comes with you in another vehicle.
When you say you’re looking for a shop that sells offroading/mudding stuff, what exactly are you looking for?
So far i have hand tools, jack, spare tire and well thats all i have…lol
Im heading to sears and harbor freight in a bit to see if i can get a nice tow strap.
As for an offroading/mudding shop, im looking for winches, tires, wheels, suspension, anything that has to do with off road. Im looking to upgrading my tires to 33" and 3" lift in January, so im looking for local shops that sells all that stuff, so i dont have to order it online.
The only shop locally that I know of is Jim Deans offroad center, but I wouldn’t touch them with a 10 foot pole. I’ve had some VERY BAD experiences with them. I now order ALL my parts online. 99.9% of the time it’s cheaper and quicker online anyway. Shop around and you can find some great deals. For instance, I found a 8000# Mile Marker winch w/ roller fairlead online for $389 delivered. They’re normally about $600.
The only parts I’ve bought locally recently were my tires. I got BFG MT 33x10.50-R15’s from Southtowns Tireman in Colden for $140 a piece mounted and balanced.
Here it is this past spring with the winch and tires installed…and that is some very good advice from MaximaSE98. If you’re ever unsure of something or a situation, err on the side of caution or ask for help from someone more experienced.
Jim Deans isn’t horrible. Just research first.
United Offroad is on Rt 5 in Clarence. Ask for Matt, tell him Jack (99 F250 V10) sent you.
Anything you do, you should do yourself. When it breaks you can fix it, when it comes loose, you can tighten it. Cause it will. Tires are the most important.
BTW - I was working on some stuff yesterday after we finished my buddy’s truck.
Sweet shop huh? :snky:
Just fixing some running board brackets is all…
