Here is the story. I sold this guy my CF hood in New Jersey. The hood was damaged when it got there. Just a little chip at the corner. I insured the hood for $500 with DHL. DHL agreed to pay, but not the amount that i insured the hood for. They asked for receipt/paypal and the amount is $370. So DHL only going to pay that much. So the question is, If DHL take the hood back, then I will pay the guy back $370. If DHL won’t take the hood back then he can keep the hood. If he keeps the hood, Do I have to still pay the full $370 to him? or give him $270 and I keep $100. I don’t know What do you guys say?
I dont think he should get the hood for free because there is a small chip in the corner. Have it returned and pay him full.
:wstupid:
Take the $370 from DHL and send the money back to the guy who bought it from you. Ironically I shipped a hood to New Jeresy last week using Greyhound and had no problem. Only $40 with insurance and got their in two days.
ya, guess I wasn’t thinking. Is he saying DHL might confiscate the hood, or return it to him? Not familiar with the process. Explain your reasoning for calling me stupid.
Will do that. I was thinking the same. Thanks guy
the sign says “I’m WITH stupid.” he is agreeing.
for that matter, I also agree. get the hood returned, refund the money or send another hood. nothing is worse than having a bad seller’s rep over something that was out of your control. go out of your way to fix the situation - that also has a way of getting around too.
tell DHL that if they dnt pay then its a breach in contract and youll take em to small claims
i think that its BS that dhl wont insure the full 500. thats what you insured it for thats what they shoudl cover.
Thats one interesting way to say he agrees, lol, is it just me?
doesnt DHL have to pay for how much the insurance is for…or is it only up to that amount is covered???
:word:
Agreed… assuming You paid a premium for the insurance, they are required by NYS to give You the value assuming that You adhered to the insurance contract.
It maybe worth a dispute if You want to get the $500 out of them. But, maybe I misread, how much did the Buyer pay You? $500 or $370?
Nick
I sold the hood for $370. I insured the hood for $500. It’s written on the DHL receipt.
Insurance is considered a contract in NYS, so if all things are in order, they Owe You $500.
I havent shipped with DHL before, so I’ll offer my knowledge with UPS:
Upto $100 insurance is free, over that You pay a premium - albeit small (insuring a $250 item will cost ~1.87 or something).
Now insurance law states that companies insuring something have to pay out the benefit (assuming premium paid - which You did) assuming the claim is approved. Now, if You “mistated” the value of the object You could’ve breached the contract Yourself, and consequently forfeited the premium You paid.
Insurance is a PITA unless You read the fineprint.
$0.02
^^using that knowledge…f-it and take the 370, dont dispute cause you might end up with nuthing, thats what i would do anyway. something is always better than nuthing. take the $370 and have it sent back, re-sell the hood cheaper, but in your ad to sell it or whatnot just show the damage and sell it stupid cheap and you’ll end up ahead of the original selling price
Thanks guys for all the advice. I will take the $370 and send it to my buyer.
No offense meant by it just a wacky forum icon used quite commonly, I simply meant I agree with you, just didnt feel like typing it all. :hay:
he’s never heard of ‘i’m with stupid’ before!?
god damn. it IS just you dude
um keep your money and just tell the dude sorry it was sold used and “as is” but ill give you 100 bucks if it really bothers you…sounds shitty, but stop caring what people think, you will never interact with this person again…you’ll be happier with 370(or 270) in your pocket than knowing u made some other guy happy
MAKE A FAKE RECIEPT.
