Where do I get manual transmission fluid?

Went to CT but was told they don’t carry it. Best just to get it from a dealer.

I’m looking to get 80w90 MTF. I want to get Redline but I guess I can
settle for anything equivalent.

Before I hit up the dealer(s) tomorrow, any other alternatives I have?

napa will have castrol maybe some other brands.

just use gear oil its the same shit.

im rocking wal mart castrol synthitic gear oil

there is no such thing as manual transmission fluid

manual trannys use oil not fluid

you just buy gear oil from canadain tire or wal mart

Right on. I wasn’t fully aware of what to get, so I figured if there is ATF,
then there must be MTF. I have never done a change so I don’t know.

The last person to do it for me was Jantos and that was over a year ago
and I forget what he used but I know he did use a mixture of gear oil +
Lucas oil stabalizer.

Thanks,

Gonad CT has a synthic Castrol gear oil of 75w80 IIRC and they have gear oil of 80w90. Either is fine, both come in 1L bottle.

You need 2.4L of gear oil for tranny. Grab yourself 2 bottles of oil and a bottle of lucas if you want to use it. 2L of gear oil and .4L of Lucas. Thats what I ussually use.

Andrew.

i know a place that has royal purple tranny fluid, i have it in my car.

and performance shop will have the good stuff

am I insane or did i read somewhere that you arent supposed to use synthetic oil in a transmission?

Why can’t you use synthetic oil? I have never heard this.
Please elaborate.

Andrew.

I just bought 2 bottles (950ml each) of Castrol GTX 80w90 @ $5.99 from
Wal-mart (Thanks Scott - Canadian Tire doesn’t sell anything other then
their own brand of Motomaster gear oil), and one bottle of Lucas Oil Stabalizer (950ml) @ $12.99.

Synthetic Castrol is $12.99 each I believe and Synthetic Lucas is $19.99.

Synthetic Lucas???

Castrol is 12.99 a bottle, you must be shitting me. I never payed that for Castrol and I use it all the time in the tranny. Man I’ll just get Motul from now on for that price.

Andrew.

I shit you not. But yea, this was at Wal-mart and they usually have a
decent price compared to CT. But CT didn’t have any gear oil besides
their own, and yes, I saw a bottle of Synthetic Lucas Oil Stabalizer
yesterday at CT.

I just got some RedLine 75W90 shipped in for 10.00 a bottle.

If you want some let me know, it is what I will be using in the tranny and the diff.

WOW. WERE???

Hey G one thing with the Lucas.

Remember it’s thick and the tranny takes a while to really warm up and get up to optimum temp in the cold so ONLY at most a 1/4 of the bottle.

Mark and I were gona put it in our engine’s but I almost forgot how it can kinda turn in to a sludge in our extreme cold days and takes a while to losen up. So were gona wait till the spring to use it.

To be honest, I would’nt even bother putting it in. The syenthetic tranny oil is fine on it’s own. Save it till spring and put it in your engine or if your going SR, do it then but I’ve heard you should’nt use additives with turbo motors as it can clog the oil lines. Don’t quote me on that though but I did hear from a buddy of mine who had pretty fast turbo Ford Probe and he does know his shit.

Anyway just making you aware of these things. Of course it’s up to you.

Take care man.
