you got named called cause you just came in my post and flamed where its not allowed. i read the paper everyday online. and your information is not all correct either. you should be mad at our mayor not the pirates. its the same thing as people being mad at pitt for making the BCS game, be mad at the system, not who benifited. the problems in the city are far deeper than two stadiums on the northside, you being an cop should know that better than anyone, just take a drive in the east end. There’s is big problem. The U of pitt as whole gets off like bandits and they are the biggest benifactors from the way the city is run. thats another huge problem.
On every ticket is a number for amusement tax, thats where the money for the stadiums comes from. without those games the tax is useless to begin with. so its basically its own self sufficent system.

i don’t know what the sides are… but that article is about the firefighters and police trying to sue the city for more money because they think their union workers are being treated ‘unfair’.
i’m glad my firm had a hand in allowing them to lose the case and stop being greedy… the merger wasn’t even passed and the ‘money’ was even divided yet.

Where does it say anything about that having to do with the stadiums? Did you do bad on your reading comprehension in grade school? Secondly, these articles are from 2003, the stadiums were finished by 01. terrible attempt at tryin to prove a point. Lastly, are the fire and medics merged yet? thats a big negatory.
Can you blame the guys? They put their lives on the line everyday never knowing if they’ll come back home to see their families. Pay isn’t everything to them, I don’t think they’re greedy people. You think the NYC firemen and policemen ran into the twin towers thinking they might get a pay raise for looking good? Just because Pittsburgh hasn’t had a tradegy like NYC doesn’t make our policemen and firemen any less brave. They certainly aren’t all that well paid, atleast the common street cop or fireman.
then they should get a new job… you don’t become a fireman or police man to make $$$ you have other ‘perks’
i feel no remorse… and i don’t think we should shell out millions of more dollars to their crooked union to ‘disperse’ evenly. especially when their union takes the city to court over an act that not only has yet to be put into law… but will effect eveyone in the city, not just them.

you dont feel for the people who sacrafice their life everyday for your loved ones . thats pretty sick. you must be some twisted people. 30000 dollars a year with good health benifits is not all that much perks yea i get a discount for health insurance because im in a career were i can get shot at stabbed in a fist fight or just plain broke. its got a high suicide and divorce rate. how about all of these army air force navy and marines over in iraq fighting for our country which came under attack lets guesss they have there perks to. you ever stop when of them on the street and say a simple thank you and take a chance to listen to their story. probably not. people like you make me sick.
I dont think that they are against you, man… It’s the unions that fuck everything up. I feel the same way about the Unions, that they are greedy, money hungry units. Fuck the unions. Its has nothing to do with the firefighters, cops, or paramedics and everything to do with the unions and the leaders of those unions.

if you’re a cop or a fireman then thanks for the service, but no one put a gun to your head and made you become one… you have just as much oppurtunity as i did to become a computer geek, or just as much to own your own business like JJ ect. ect.
so why should I feel bad that you think you don’t get paid? you do realize that 30k is alright money… there are people with degree’s that work in the social services section of the job market that start at 18k… and i completely blame them for choosing that profession.

i could get stabbed or killed too today when i leave work and all the police in the world can’t prevent it. Police in this city are reactive, not proactive. They don’t protect my family or anyone, they react and clean up the mess. And if we stretch our police so much why does it take 3 cars everytime i get pulled over? 30000 a year with good health sounds not bad to me. there are plenty of people making that with no health benifits. if your single 30000 is pretty good. if your married you usually would have two incomes.
also what about all the preasure i mean im white if i shoot a african american indian mexican asian and its on film im being scrutinized for the next year going to trail and defending my honor and my job why because i shot a person of a different color. i hate to tell you im a cop im not seeing color when im out there im seeing possiblity of violence. look at the rodney king thing. guys hopped up on crack attacking cops driving his car right at a group of kids did you hear about that on the news april 26 92 no you heard what 4 police officers beat a black motorist. those guys go through hell for that. what about all these new pellet guns the kids that recently where stopped in the woods by the school playing “war games” with pellet guns what would of happened if when the cops told the kids to drop it and instead of what 3 of them dropping them and the 1 holding it they all looked at the cops and held the guns up pointing right at them. the cops would of fired on those kids sooooooo quick cause they are trained to and 4 kids would of been dead. the thought of 4 kids being dead would be with those officers for the rest of their lifes. its like you dont respect police because of what you see on television. well waht about the african american that is sueing california police because he was shot 54 ish times with pepper pellets. UMM what else. i can go on the tyisha miller case out in cali african american gets shot while in her car anywher from 20 - 45 shots get fired into the car she had a gun on her lap cops saw her reach for it so they shot her they were scared for their life. tell you what ill take your job ofr a day and be a whatever making more the 30000 dollars a year and you go pick up half decomposed bodies tell people there loved ones are dead go to court hearings investigate crime scenes see children laying in a car dead after an accident. the smell of a body that is decomposing absolutly disgusting it will make you vomit. please respect these individuals they deserve it
i respect everyone that is out there with a job. i don’t think one is more special than the next as long as you are making a living for urself. I’m not gonna praise the guy making my hamberger at mcdonalds cause he could screw up and i could eat raw meat and die. thats the same reason i don’t praise cops for doing what they are gettin paid to do. everyone of us faces the same things cops do everyday…we just might not expect it comming.
as for reactive compared to proactive yea you are right and you want to know why its really a simple simple fact. the pittsburgh police are affriad of the people they serve. if you or anyone else would call up the station name a officer first or last name and have a report go on their permentant record that follows them through out life. it can make look then insufficiant as a officer in a court situation and they dont want that. so they are going to only show up where they are needed this keeps them looking like they are doing there job and keeps there record from being trashed
so when is the last time you picked up a dead body and stuffed it in a bag? whens the last time you had to pull a gun out to not only protect you but inocent people around? whens the last time you wresteled with a guy 3 xs your size? i dont think you have cops can do this all in one day and call it work. i do this job because i want to help others im not looking for praise for it. people do come up and say thanks but its not needed. personally i am thankful for the man/ lady that makes my samich at mcdonalds because they at least know how to do there job and keeps them out of trouble. rather them do that then be packing and selling drugs making 10 xs the money wouldnt you?
