Which Remote start?

I am probably keeping the Accord and I am sick of not having keyless entry.

I searched and didnt find too much.

But I did find a few on ebay I liked.

want
-keyless entry
-remote start
-beep and parking light flash (maybe get a cool beep unit instead of using the horn honk)
-defrost output
-oem type keychain is a plus
-trunk output

do not want
-anything with an LCD keychain

not worried about
-if it has an alarm or not.

what I found:

I dont really like this keychain, it looks cheap and generic, but otherwise ok

this one is automatic, it locks/unlocks based on proximity to car. pretty neat.

from the 3 you posted, the other 2 look like alot more keychain than anyone would want.

mine has 2 buttons, does doors, starts, flashes lights. its really basic, and a must have for winter. I <3 it.

choice 1 is great … the other 2 are no name garbage

Anything made by DEI is good and will do all the options you want, Alot of people on here seem to be fans of compustar also.

I would not suggest using the second or third link you posted.

Not that its a bad unit, But the bypass that you posted may not be best for a DIY.

I like the compustar stuff a lot. You can get their base model it comes with a regular white keychain, not an lcd. I don’t know about defrost output, I didn’t get that option.

You can wire up a defrost output on almost any starter. We use dei and artic start at my shop and have great results with both. Ill check at work tomorrow for what bypass you need for that accord model. What trim level is your accord? I can get you a price on everything you need over the counter if you want.

nail on the head right there… stick with DEI … I have the top of the line version of that model and you can pretty much program it to do anything you want electrically in the car.

Stop in and see me for a Compustar unit. Im always willing to help out a NYSpeeder.

PM for details.

the transponder is in the second post.

Sorry, I didn’t check the links

no worries mang

but fml, that python is 3x the other ones. haha. i didnt even notice. I suppose its worth it though

I looked at the compustar ones and I dont like any of them. the key fob is really important to me and those are all gay. plus the ebay listings for those were horribly put together so that turned me away too. I checked out the main site and it still didnt appeal

Right, but you would rather have a bottom shelf DEI?

Ill probably buy in a few weeks after my next paycheck.

since thats settled (unless someone finds a better product for the price) how are these usually wired in? straight up cut and solder into the factory wires? I guess I dont have a problem with that since it should be permanent. I just always hear of people trying to remove these things and the cluster fuck thats under the dash. I like things to be clean and simple.

Usually you will use t tap connectors on to the factory wiring. With most vehicles(except gm passlock) you should not have to cut any wiring

Using T-taps is the best solution.

And for what it’s worth I have used DEI, Compustar and a hand full of other units.
By far Compustar is the best unit I have ever used/installed/etc.

I did see you want to purchase over the counter, unfortunately at that point I cant even help you based on their (Compustar’s) rules. They can not honor the lifetime warranty they offer unless it is installed by an authorized installer and prefer to not bother selling to DIY’ers

thats gay. warranty is a warranty. I am more than qualified to solder a few wires and clamp some t-taps together.

They dont know that. A lot of people “know” how to install shit.
Im not saying you dont, but this protects them from those “installers” though.

oh, I definitely understand. but if they sell a good product they should offer some sort of warranty to the DIY’er

They sell an excellent product.

Personally this being my favorite.

3000ft range, (2) 1 way remotes 900FM frequency.

These are borderline bulletproof. If youre willing to let someone install it for you, just PM me with what car you have. I’ll give you a great price installed with any interface required…and that handy dandy lifetime install and product warranty.
