Fixed
i have the same problem. i am going to do all of my routine maintance and hopefully that will fix the problem. if not, looks like a rebuild my re-build will have to happen just after DTP.
Typical problem if you read aussie mags. Headgasket changing time. If you like CAs read HPI.
give me an update if you ever fixed it.
I’m hoping that it won’t come to that… cross my fingers…
An online mechanic from Nico told me to try changing my spark plugs to NGK ones and it might be due to inaccurate coolant temperature sensor and AFM readings. I’ll also try to replace my valve cover gasket and the o rings that goes around the plugs. Hopefully, one of this will work.
Anyways, I tried running the car without going on boost and it still gave off white smoke when I was waiting at the stop light. But then again, it was gone when I got home.
someone also told me that it might be my PCV valve; it might be letting oil into the intake manifold. So, I followed the service manual on how to check the PCV valve, but the engine always dies everytime I pullout the PCV valve. It states there to take it out while the engine is running 'coz I should hear a hissing sound and a strong vacuum should be felt when finger is placed over the valve inlet. Unfortunately, I couldn’t do the test 'coz the engine stalls once I remove the PCV valve. Am I doing it wrong?
leakdown test…might be valve seals
are we not talking about white smoke? the exhaust colour with coolant.
yep, i think I am overheating because when I have the heater blasting the car runs alot smoother. but i will see, my ca18 needs a bit of TLC right now.
I had always heard that if your car has white smoke like substance coming outta your car thru the exhaust, it is due to a head gasket cause the antifreeze/water is getting into the exhaust and other areas. Does it smell/look different on your oil dipstick??
it stinks but doesn’t smell sweet or like coolant though. and it only smokes every now and then.
First do a compression test. If two cylinders that are side-by-side are showing weak compression, suspect a headgasket.
Do a leakdown test. Take all of the spark plugs out, take your leakdown tester and out it up to 100 psi of air. You should see less the 20%. If it’s more, you have a problem. Listen for air hissing in your air cleaner tubing, pull your oil filler cap off and listen, listen to all the spark plug holes, and take your radiator cap off and look for bubbling (indicating head gasket).
White smoke=coolant in your combustion chambers
Whoever told you it was a pcv valve is wrong. Oil burns blue and it would burn blue more often. Don’t even both with the vacuum in the crackcase check, it’s unrelated. Monitor your oil from now on. If you notice a milky color, there is coolant mixing with your oil and you need a head/head gasket/block. Most commonly though, it’s a head gasket.
Thanks alot. I hope I’ll find the problem…
I forgot to delete that first part of the sentence, but a plugged PCV valve could cause a head gasket blow out. It’s possible. All you have to do to check is remove the PCV valve then shake it up and down. If it rattles inside, it’s good. Also look at it and make sure there is no oil build up or anything. Maybe even clean it or replace it. I’m not saying that is directly your problem, but it’s happened before. But it won’t route it to the intake manifold and burn it like that guy told you unless it’s stuck open. But if it was stuck open, then you wouldn’t have that pressure build up. I’ve seen plugged PCV valves pop a camshaft seal, etc. right off some engines…right off.
