who can fix red ring of death

your an idiot

if ur getting checkered video, then the video is most likely going. did you get 3 rings or 1 ring?, looks like everything went all at once for ya, lol i know the feeling man, i have a bricked original 360 here in my room that cant be fixed.

I got three red leds, both left and one right light. I turned it on yesterday (before hooking back up my PS2 to watch Christmas vacation, lol) and it didn’t show the ring, only the power light was lit and it froze on the intro “xbox” screen.

vid is going, try another cable or send it in.

the video went on my 360 the other day…it had the xclamp fix done to it a few months ago. i just re-did the xclamp fix, put some fresh thermal compound on the heatsinks, and all is good. video working fine again

So - an “x-clamp fix” is four screws, four lock washers, four stainless washers, and four rubber washers, plus thermal paste?

Anyone have the screw size you should use?

4 12mm Cheese Head Screws
8 M5 Nylon Washers - 1 mm thick
16 M5 Steel Washers - 1 mm thick

wanna sell me one of em for 50 bucks?

Very cool. Looks like this can be done with a trip to a computer shop and a run to Ace Hardware. I would need 8 12mm M5 screws, 16 M5 nylons, and 32 M5 steel washers to do both the GPU and CPU.

A T10 to open the case, I see, but what’s this “case opening tool”? Is there a plan for making one online anywhere? Looks like stamped steel, something I can fab up.

Sorry for the stupid q’s, I is no-so-good with the computery :hay:

the case opening tool is not necessary to remove the case. all you need is a small screwdriver to get the casing loose. you can find youtube videos on this

you will also need a T8 screwdriver as well to take some screws out. i had to get a T8 from Home Depot. so if you dont have one, they have a set of percision torx drivers for $5.97

don’t spread out thermal paste out like he is doing though.
that’s pretty retarded since you’ll put debris like dust and shit in there.
nor touch the back of a heatsink since your greasy fingers will fudge up the heat transfer.
meh.

and use AS5 for thermal paste ;X
