i have 2 older 360’s that have this problem. and both will not be fixed my microsoft for free. so who can do them local?
well, you could do the towel trick. Suprisingly it works - well… for a little while
haha they are toast i need a real fix
Personally I wouldn’t do the towel trick because it doesn’t get hot enough.Look for tutorials that involve a heat gun, which you can buy relatively cheap at harbor freight.
i did the towel thing and it worked for about a week before coming back on again lol
why wont it be fixed by microsoft?
im looking for a real fix, like someone who knows how to do the x-clamp thing. i wanna fix them then sell em. not looking for a temp fix so screw people
pray to your god of choice
I’m actually in the middle of an x-clamp fix now for a friend of mine. it’s stupid simple. i’d be done but he only gave me the box and no power cables or nething. so i’m waiting on the cables so i can test it out. otherwise, i’d say start to finish i could get these done in about an hour or so.
so are you saying you can do mine? what would you charge me total for 2 boxes?
what sounds reasonable? most car/computer/electronics work i charge $40/hour + parts. for this the parts total under $5 so $40/box seems fair in that aspect since it takes roughly an hour.
Edit: Successfully fixed my first RROD
so like a shop i only pay if it gets fixed right ill give ya a pm tomarrow
The retarded comments on that video are just silly. But helpful video though.
only problem w/ that video is that he doesn’t know which one is the cpu and which one is the gpu. he definitely said the cpu is the gpu. (CPU has the TALL heatsink, GPU has the SHORT FLAT heatsink)
sell the xbox’s like they are new and then with the money buy a new one.
thats a scub bag move man, i belive in karma
then nvm dont do that then.
i’m pretty sure u could get like $120 for a working xbox 360 if it comes w/ a hard drive. otherwise there worth like $25 w/ the RROD
Okay - so mine, which I got last year as a Christmas gift, just decided today it would
A.) Drop the picture in the middle of a game, then
B.) Eat Call of Duty - World at War by scratching an 1/8" loop around the disc, after which it
C.) showed the “dashboard” screen with a checkered pattern, and henceforth it
D.) showed this fucking “red ring of death” horseshit.
Questions:
1.) Is this game covered under a warranty? I read the Wiki article and it indicates it might.
2.) Am I fucked so far as warranty goes? I didn’t buy it, again it was a gift form my lady, fairly certain the receipt for this is gone to the ages.
3.) If I’m proverbially fucked, where can I get the goods to fix the bastard myself?
4.) Steve, you want a beer or three to give me a hand?
If it helps anyone, bang
I did the x-clamp to no avail, apparently mine was fubar’d
