Who does Autocross?

Yay wny road tire class! With the new breed of street tires out now you can get a set of shaved re11r and get almost as good grip of an rcomp.

Except it’s cheaper for a set of victoracers (at least in a 245/17), and they will last a LOT longer.

And that’s why I think the class is stupid, but that’s just my opinion. However, if you made the class a min treadwear rating of 300, then it puts everyone on all seasons in the same boat

i did an event down on that old runway down near Syracuse 2 seasons, and it was an absolute blast!!!

Are you talking about Seneca Army Depot in Romulus? That’s like 50 miles from Syracuse.

He could be talking about Griffis AFB, which was pretty awesome too.

Ninja edit - could be either because they are about the same distance.

Oh, never had a chance to drive there. :frowning:

Definitely looking forward to this season - I wish the novice school was earlier though, I haven’t had a chance to test my limits since I switched from my Impreza to my new Miata.

Impreza: Oh, there’s my limit…and there’s a guardrail

Miata: Wait what? I should not still be turning. Ridiculous.

I love it

Want earlier school’ing… The Glen Region is hosting the official EVOLUTION School the first week of May, and the FLR region is hosting their school in May also.

+1, shouldn’t a region road tire class be about keeping the (indexed) competition as cheap as possible?

Well one reason is that, as George mentioned, it keeps it consistent with FLR, so its accessable for people who run in both.

The bigger one is: If not at 140, where do you draw the line? That is the point that is generally considered the difference between R’s and streets. So what happens when someone shows up with the 140s and the line is at 300. So there’s that middle ground that’s screwed.

And if we’re going for the cheapest class possible, then where do you draw the line there? Can’t make everyone happy, and not everyone’s going to be competitive for various reasons, just as in every other sport. Just trying to give as many people a place to play and feel like they have a chance to win.

That’s just me being PC though…

woo i want to get into this! im up for the novice days!

yeah, novice days would be great. T minus 1 week til ECCN.

Bump!

edit: shitty, just saw it said autocross after searching motocross.

speaking of autocross…WHY DON’T SOME OF YOU COME OUT AND RACE YOUR CAR IN A PARKING LOT RATHER THAN MEETING IN A PARKING LOT AND STARING AT EACH OTHERS TURBOS? You can still look at each others turbos afterword.
