Our son got 4 staples on the back of his head yesterday. I have to take him back in 10 days to get them out. I have never had staples before, and I want to know if it is going to hurt taking them out as much as it did when they put them in? Mind you our son is only 3 (will be on Sunday).
A couple hurt really bad and others weren’t bad at all. A couple of mine were right on the temple which is a sensative area.

i had them in my achilles when i had it repaired. it doesnt hurt a ton there but it definetly stings a bit. so id assume it may hurt a bit more in his head.
My grandma was watching him for me for a little while, and when he woke up from his nap and went to get off her bed he fell and hit his head on her night stand. I was hoping for glue but it needed staples.
I had a few. It wasn’t awful, but then again I wasn’t 3.

They might numb his up first before they tak them out.
they didn’t numb my head when they took mine out. then again, i wasn’t 3.
it really isn’t worth numbing up to be honest.
Wasn’t bad in the elbow area. One was stuck and it tugged a bit with some blood. The other 9 came out without a hitch.

THIS! Don’t coddle! The more parents make things a big deal and react, the more the kid reacts. I hate when I see a kid take a lil tumble and the parents run over and go “OMG are you ok”. This leads the kid to cry and seek more attention. Kids are only as resilient as they are conditioned to be. New parents have a clean slate, please don’t raise a cry baby. LOL
I had staples when my appendix burst. It’s a slight pinch when they remove them. Shouldn’t be too bad at all.

wait why do you have to take them out… go back to the doctor… they should be taking them out

Kids are resilient. I wouldn’t worry about it.
Mine were in my skull, I pulled them out after 12 days. Of course it’s going to hurt you’re ripping something out of his body use your brain.
What does it matter how much it’s going to hurt? Hurt is hurt to a three year old, I would imagine. He’s not going to thank you for the experience, but it’s not like you have a choice.
