I dabble. If you are going to do it, do it gradually. Don’t think you’re a hero and try to ride miles on one wheel with little experience. And DO NOT do them to impress on lookers. Especially girls. ahemwill*
I have wheelied lots of times, not saying that I can. Ive done a few 2-3 mile ones, but I never got good enough to do it every time. best feeling in the world.
also, just from riding dirt bikes going to a bigger bike doesnt really change anything except it has more power when you need it (it only goes as fast as you twist the throttle)
So you can ride at balance point?
on my 600, I could power them up, by letting off the gas and preloading the front shocks. It takes some time, the easiest way to learn is go to a smooth road with a gradual incline…it makes it much easier…
Before I sold my bike, I could ride wheelies about a half-3/4 mile…
Make sure you have a good rear tire, when my tire was at the end of it’s life, the bike was very unstable on the rear wheel…
so you’re regeared?
NO way on a stock bike… exhaust and PC and -1 +1 maybe.
I mean, I can get up 3rd on my bike, but 4th, not a chance…
And 3rd is retarded, why would you want to ride a wheelie at 100mph+?
I have gotten there those few times, and oh man is that the best feeling ever, just cruising at 60-65 in a wheelie. other than that I would get close but eventually have to power out. I could usually go a mile I think, but thats a near balance point ending at like 90 in 3rd gear (my 636 was one down two up so third was mint, when i got it it was only one down and third was impossible)
those were sit downs too, I did a few stand ups and staggared stand ups but i never got comfy with that. when you are going to wheelie scooch back on the seat, it makes your balance point bigger.
if you are doing wheelies GET A STEERING DAMPER!!! I rode my buddies 06 636 without one and it was scary how much the handle bars went all over the place. same goes for stoppies, it gives you so much more control. I never got too good at stoppies, anything over 35mph I got scared to let the rear come up, but I could ride one for like 30 feet, lol
wow I miss my bike, lol. but I had to sell it because all I wanted to do was wheelie, and I wasnt about to rack up a record… getting a dirt bike instead. haha
Eh. Wheelied my old ass built Fz back in highschool. have cared too much about all of the other bikes i have owned since to wheelie them.
Had the wheel come up a couple times, enough for me not to want me to do it again.
yea power wheelies can get scary real quick…
I can do them sitting down. I start in first and shift to second then up to third gear. They sometimes come down when I shift into 3rd but othertimes not. Still working on it. But I’m riding them pretty far. Everytime I go riding I do wheelies. They are addicting. I get them up pretty high I would say. Couple of feet. I dont have any pictures but about this much I would say.
Anyone else have pictures of their wheelies?
Never seen or felt roadrash ey;)? put on some gear RR hurts like a bitch.
thats not me read the post
dont shift, ride the wheelie higher, and remain at constant speed.

theres some good pics in the POST PICS OF YOUR BIKE THREAD…
btw, what year is your r6? the only thing I liked about r6’s is they clutch up soooo smoothly and strongly. JBGTI’s was awesome, even ieatpaints came up easy (when it had 4 working sparkplugs) lol. The new ones seem to lack the power unless way up in the r’s
NOSE WHEEEEEEELIE
if you are shifting you are no where near balance point, scooch back in your seat! clutch it in second (first is useless once you get a feel of the front comming up) and bring it up right away. pull the bike towards you if you are scared to lean back. when I was at balance point I could not see over the bike, I had to either look to the side or poke my head up.
always have a mental note to keep your right foot on the brake, it will save your ass if you go over. and once you are ‘done’ with the wheelie let off the gas a little to get the front end coming down then get back into it a little to ease the slam
I think I was dumping it around 7-8k. you will feel it when you get to balance point. well you wont feel it, but you will feel the absence of having to struggle/pull the bike up, its hard to explain.
just keep dumping it at a slightly higher and higher rpm until it feels right. I cant remember but I think I was around 45 or 50 when I would pop it up. its been almost a year…
also, drop the air in your rear tire a little bit. for an explanation of that go stand on a fully inflated basket ball then stand on a partially deflated one. same concept on the bike, but be sure to reinflate it if you are going to do any high speed turns…
in regards to that picture, I always wore work boots, jeans, jacket, and gloves, no exceptions. even when it was 90 out. I would just open the vents and zip my coat down half way…
are one of those vids someone wheelieing over the grand island bridges? that vid is sick, I think of it every time I go to canada.
