I’ve been thinking about S4’s quite a bit lately but I don’t know too much about them other than they are hot and have Quattro.
My interest would be in an 03-05 S4 Avant with a 6 speed manual. How troublesome are these cars? I know the 4.2 V8 is pretty widely used. Are there any issues common to them? This would be for daily driving duties (to and from work and getting groceries)
I could definitely see myself rocking something like this.
My next car will be a B6 or B7. I love the B5 and it is a lot more fun to drive than the newer ones. Also the B5 aftermarket is huge and coming down in price. But on the other hand a B6 or B7 will still be a lot of fun to drive and be way more reliable, and they have no real common problems. I would definitely recommend it.
04/05 B6 s4 avants will run you $27k-35k depending on condition, mileage, CPO, etc.
From what I’ve researched, stay away from the early 04 models (pre 10-03 build date) as they seem to have more issues.
Even if it is an extra couple grand, I recommend getting a CPO’ed car that will cover you until 100k miles. The peace of mind is worth the money when owning a 4.2 audi.
Yep, pretty much everything that’s available in-country anyway.
And, in my mind, the blower kit is stupid money. My customer with the 04 avant inquired about it, and has the scratch to afford it, but I flat out told him it wasn’t worth it.
500 ftlb for almost the entire powerband and 4.8 0-60. It would be a amazing car to drive. If i had a shit ton of money I would do it, but then again I made a taurus fast.
Agreed, but if you’ve got the money to throw away on something you’d never see a return on, then you might as well buy an RS4 and get some resale value out of it.
