lol… I’m not saying an internet post is enough to get you busted. It’s just one part in many of a circumstantial case. I don’t know how seriously the DEC takes the crime of a car being dumped in a preserve area. It wouldn’t be too hard to run the VIN, go talk to the previous owner. Take the bill of sale plus the posts of him bragging about it and you have a decent circumstantial case. At that point they probably offer “admit the charge and fine will be $XXX, or fight it and if you lose fine with be $XXXXX”.
Do you honestly think somone who can’t pay in full for a $500 car is going to have money for a decent lawyer and court fight?
