I had forgotten all about this thread…
But just to update, we had the vehicle done at a local shop. They put 5 actuators in (all 4 doors and the hatch), and installed the keyless entry unit.
Coming up on three months installed, and guess what? Not once has the vehicle caught fire, melted down, or otherwise failed to funtion 100% normally, which means that there have been no trips to the dealer…
I guess the shop (and myself) knew what they were doing and properly interfaced with the vehicle’s “BCM”. Or, the above reasons why it couldn’t be done is, as I said before, bullshit fed to unknowing consumers by a struggling automaker to A) sell accessories and B) sell unneeded service.
